  • Publication number: 20160281678
Abstract: Apparatuses and associated methods for producing energy from building or mine ventilation exhausts are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an apparatus for extracting energy from the ventilation exhaust includes a turbine rotor having a plurality of turbine blades that are at least partially airfoils (e.g., NACA or SG60XX airfoils). A flow conditioner may be positioned to direct the exhaust air to the turbine. In some embodiments, the turbine rotor may be configured to rotate at high RPM. Accordingly, a rotating shaft of the turbine can be connected with an electrical generator without an intervening gearbox. In some embodiments, electricity produced by the electrical generator can be fed directly to the electrical wiring of the building or mine to offset energy consumption of the ventilation system.

  • Patent number: 8683912
Abstract: A hydraulic cylinder contamination prevention system for preventing large and small contaminants from entering into a hydraulic cylinder, including a hydraulic cylinder rod cover for underwater use with at least one automatic valve for preventing water circulation between the outside environment and the enclosed environment of the cylinder rod cover when the cylinder is stationary, egress of water from the cylinder rod cover when the cylinder is retracted, and ingress of water into the cylinder rod cover when cylinder is extended, and an external and abrasive cylinder rod scrubber.

  • Patent number: 5476275
Abstract: An all terrain baby stroller using an axle assembly that allows the rear wheels to be easily and quickly mounted and removed from the stroller frame without tools. The axle assembly has each rear wheel rotatably mounted on an outward end portion of a stub axle. A tubular rear axle defines a cylindrical interior chamber with an outward end opening sized to slidably receive the stub axle inward end portion therethrough for positioning of the stub axle inward portion coaxially within the interior chamber. When so positioned, a circumferential groove of the stub axle inward end portion is positioned within the interior chamber. The tubular sidewall of the rear axle has an aperture positioned axially inward from the interior chamber outward opening and at a location to coincide with the circumferential groove. A lock pin is carried by a strip spring and is movably disposed in the sidewall aperture for selective movement between an engagement position and a disengagement position.
