  • Patent number: 8121887
Abstract: A method of reporting on the quality of repair work performed on an article such as a vehicle including the steps of: (1) identifying occurrences of quality problems in repair of an article at a repair facility, (2) generating quality data on the occurrences of quality problems of step (a), (3) electronically transferring the quality data to a computer database, (4) sorting the quality data in the database and (5) producing a report of the sorted quality data. A system for practicing this method includes one or more repair shops in communication with a computer. Data on the insurance of quality problems during the repair of vehicles is transmitted from the repair shops to the computer which then sorts the quality data in the database and produces reports of assorted quality data to provide information to repair shops, insurance companies and manufacturers.

  • Patent number: 4144630
Abstract: A method of making a tuned torsional viscous damper comprising assembling preformed elastic tuning spring, spacing and sealing rings in engagement about concentricity maintaining shoulder means located at the radially inner sides of grooves substantially wider than the rings within radially inner portions of confronting spaced axially directed faces within a ring shaped inertia mass having a radially inwardly opening annular working chamber, mounting the inertia mass on a supporting disk, including placing within the working chamber and between the rings a radially extending body on the supporting disk, with parallel confronting working surfaces on the body and on said faces in shear film spaced relation having regard to the viscosity of damping medium to be filled into the chamber, bonding the elastic rings to the body and to the inertia mass, and filling viscous damping medium into the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4098373
Abstract: A tuned torsional viscous damper has mounted on a flat supporting disk a ring-shaped inertia mass comprising a pair of complementary stamped heavy gauge annular sheet metal inertia plates each of which has a radially outer axially facing annular portion in parallel shear film spaced relation to the disk body having regard to viscous damping medium in the damper, radially outer extremities of said radially outer annular portions being secured together, radially inner annular axially facing portions of substantial width of the stamped inertia plates being substantially offset axially away from the disk body by means of annular transversely angular integral offsetting bends connecting the radially inner portions to the radially outer portions, elastic tuning spring, spacing and sealing rings bonded in the recesses defined by the radially inner plate portion and extending into bonded engagement with the disk body.

  • Patent number: 4046230
Abstract: Elastic tuning, spacing and sealing rings substantially fill annular grooves in a ring shaped inertia mass and face toward and into engagement with the body of supporting disk means extending radially into an annular working chamber defined by the inertia mass, the chamber being substantially filled with a viscous damping medium. Annular retaining flanges along the radially inner sides of the grooves assist in mounting the elastic rings in concentric relation to one another and to the working chamber and protect the rings against intrusion of dirt and contaminants. The grooves are partially unfilled and provide damping medium reservoirs about the radially outer sides of the elastic rings.Several optional configurations and combinations are disclosed to meet practical considerations.
