  • Patent number: 5242672
Abstract: A process for removing sulfur from an organic polysulfide by reaction with an aqueous stripping solution of at least one sulfide salt and/or hydrosulfide salt in a multi-stage, continuous, countercurrent flow, reaction system wherein the sulfur is stripped from the polysulfide into the aqueous stripping solution phase which is separated from the polysulfide organic phase.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4725571
Abstract: A presulfiding agent which is a blend of an alkyl sulfide of the formula R.sub.1 S.sub.x R.sub.2 where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are alkyl groups having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms and x is 1 or 2 and an alkyl polysulfide of the formula R.sub.3 S.sub.y R.sub.4 wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are alkyl groups having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms and y is 2 to 8 provided that the total carbon atoms in R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 do not exceed 30 and y is greater than x, is disclosed herein along with a process employing said agent for sulfiding an oxidic hydrotreating catalyst to form a sulfided hydrotreating agent and a process of hydrotreating a petroleum fraction with such sulfided hydrotreating catalyst.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4650553
Abstract: Lead is recovered from lead-containing scrap metal in an electrolytic process employing an aqueous solution of C.sub.1-4 alkanesulfonic acid as the electrolyte at a high concentration, scrap lead as the anode, and an electroconductive cathode, impressing an electromotive force across the solution between the electrodes to provide a specified steady-state concentration of lead salt in the electrolyte, and continuing the process to deplete the anode and collect lead at the cathode.
