  • Patent number: 10252597
Abstract: Disclosed are joint active thermal management (ATM) systems for electric-drive vehicles, control logic for operating such ATM systems, and electric-drive vehicles equipped with a joint ATM system for heating/cooling the powertrain's drive unit (DU) section, power electronics (PE) section, and rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) section. A disclosed active thermal management system includes a first coolant loop with fluid conduits fluidly connecting a first electronic heat exchanger and a first pump with the DU and PE sections. The ATM system also includes a second coolant loop with fluid conduits fluidly connecting a second electronic heat exchanger and a second pump with the RESS section. A coolant-to-coolant heat exchanger, which is fluidly connected to the first and second coolant loops, is operable to selectively transfer heat between the coolant fluid circulating in the first set of fluid conduits and the coolant fluid circulating in the second set of fluid conduits.

  • Patent number: 10122054
Abstract: Examples of battery pack systems that include polymers are a cooling system, a thermal management system, and a liquid leakage control system. The cooling system and the thermal management systems may include an upper critical solution temperature polymer or a lower critical solution temperature polymer. The liquid leakage control system includes a superabsorbent polymer.

  • Publication number: 20140190568
Abstract: A battery pack with a drain plug. The drain plug includes a carrier defining a cavity internal to the carrier, an inlet disposed on a first surface of the carrier and an outlet disposed on a second surface of the carrier where the first surface and the second surface fluidly displaced from one another and coupled to the cavity. A soluble plug may be disposed within the cavity of the carrier; the soluble plug is configured to at least partially dissolve when fluidly coupled with a coolant allowing a portion of the coolant to flow between the inlet and the outlet and out of the battery pack. A first lead and a second lead are configured to signally connect an impedance element that is cooperative with the carrier, to a circuit such that when the continuity of the circuit is interrupted, the circuit provides notification of the activation of the drain plug to the on-board computer systems.

  • Patent number: 6859943
Abstract: A pair of shorts with a padding attached to the outside over the crotch and lower abdomen area so the wearer can rest the butt of a fishing pole on their abdomen in the customary position used for fighting fish. The padded fishing shorts can also be made to where the padding is attached to the frontal crotch area by means of hook and loop material attachment strips. Also, the shorts can be provided with an attachment tang by which a drink koozie can be attached to the shorts so a fisherman can have both hands free to reel in a fish.

  • Patent number: 6102479
Abstract: A locking pivot connector for a cot-chair back rest and a swivel joint for a sun shade supported by the back rest are disclosed. The locking pivot connector permits longitudinal placement of the back rest on the cot-chair with selective angular adjustment of the back rest on the cot-chair to allow its use as a cot, chair or chaise lounge. The sun shade swivel connection permits almost 360.degree. angular rotation of the sun shade by a spring-loaded ratchet assembly.

  • Patent number: 4675686
Abstract: An apparatus for the stable support of a structure, such as an antenna, in a fluid medium, such as the ocean. A flotation bag supporting an antenna is stabilized by the following features, which can be used individually or in combination. A partially submerged ribbon fence supported by a submerged damper skirt dissipates the kinetic energy of the flotation bag caused by the movement of the ocean and water that encroaches upon the bag. A flexible connection between the bag and the payload enables the bag and the payload to undergo limited motion without affecting each other. Thus, the bag's motion is decoupled and totally independent of the payload. The housing which supports the payload has a flooded chamber, lowering the center of mass of the apparatus. The bottom of the flotation bag is inwardly arched, moving the bouyancy away from the center of the bottom of the bag, enhancing stability and allowing the bag to float lower in the ocean, keeping the damper skirt submerged. The payload includes an r.f.
