  • Patent number: 5095727
Abstract: A roller burnishing tool is disclosed having inner and outer pluralities of concentrically disposed, precision tapered rolls. A precision tapered annular mandrel is disposed within the inner plurality of rolls and operates to controllably urge the inner plurality of rolls outwardly against a lip of a workpiece inserted between the inner and outer pluralities of rolls. The inner plurality of rolls forces the lip outwardly into contact with the outer rolls, and the pressurized contact of the rolls effects a burnishing action on the surfaces of the lip of the workpiece. In a preferred embodiment, the burnishing tool also includes a pilot stop for receiving an alignment post used to align the workpiece with the burnishing tool.

  • Patent number: 5094435
Abstract: A flange alignment tool for temporarily aligning and holding a flange of a workpiece in concentric alignment with a tubular workpiece such as a pipe. The tool includes a C-shaped frame member having integrally formed first and second opposing end portions, a transverse frame section extending between the first and second opposing end portions, and an elongated base portion extending outwardly from the second end portion. The first opposing end portion, transverse frame section, and base portion each contain threaded apertures and associated, manually adjustable alignment screws. The tool is secured to a flange by placing it over an outer edge portion of the flange with an outer surface of the flange abuttingly engaging the second opposing end portion of the C-shaped frame member. The alignment screw of the first opposing end portion is then manually screwed into contact with an inner surface of the flange to secure the C-shaped frame member securely thereto.

  • Patent number: 4890473
Abstract: A clamp encircles the outer rim of an out-of-round tubular pipe to reform the cross-section of same into one that is substantially round, the clamp including a ring frame, a plurality of pivotally mounted roller assemblies each having a roller to engage the pipe rim, and drive means for pivoting the roller assemblies such that the rollers simultaneously rotate to contract radially inwardly or outwardly relative to a circle defining the locus of pivot axes, the rollers describing first and second circles and being adapted to close into a circle having a diameter sized to engage the pipe, when inserted therein. The clamp can include multiple sets of separately adjustable roller assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4268209
Abstract: A foldable vehicle is adapted to be transported in its own container on the back of a motor home, yacht, or the like, or for storage or shipping. The storage container is hingably attached to a motor vehicle, or the like, and has lifting cylinders for swinging the container from a first horizontal loading position to a second vertical storage position. The container is designed to receive a specially designed collapsible vehicle and has means to attach the vehicle to the floor of the container when in a horizontal loading position, and for latching the container with the collapsed vehicle therein to the rear of the motor home in its vertical storage position.

  • Patent number: 4257402
Abstract: A solar receiver in which a rod of high thermal conductivity is mounted in an evacuated envelope so as to receive thermal energy and which is coated with a selective absorbing surface so as to minimize radiation has a heat transfer end which is surrounded by a suitable material such as pyroceram or porcelain or other suitable material which extends into a container from which the heat produced by the solar energy is removed. The glass envelope surrounding the rod is attached by welding to the pyroceram cylinder and the heat transfer cavity is connected with an O-ring to the pyroceram cylinder so as to provide a liquid seal.

  • Patent number: 4089542
Abstract: A foldable vehicle is adapted to be transported in its own container on the back of a motor home, yacht, or the like, for storage or shipping. The vehicle is motorized and has a chassis and a plurality of wheels along with passenger seats. The vehicle has means for raising and lowering the wheels relative to the chassis between an operative position and a collapsed position. In addition, the hood, window frame, steering wheel column, steering wheel, seats, and roll bar fold to provide a compact, folded vehicle for a shipping or storage container.
