  • Publication number: 20170292265
Abstract: An insulated masonry wall system comprised of special blocks of 24?×16?×8? dimension filled with reclaimed rubber crumbs resulting in high R values to resist transmission of heat and cold. Insulation is blown and vibrated into the special concrete blocks as walls are developed. Construction of wall will be similar to standard masonry blocks. Facings attached to the blocks can be vinyl and wood siding, brick, stucco, textured acrylic finish, fiber-cement siding hardboard, photovoltaic siding, and wood shakes.

  • Patent number: 6162913
Abstract: N-protected-L-homocysteine disulfide of the formula ##STR1## or an activated form thereof is reacted with (S)-2-amino-6,6-dimethoxyhexanoic acid, methyl ester to give the disulfide intermediate of the formula ##STR2## Cleavage of the disulfide bond followed by acid catalyzed cyclization produces the N-protected lactam of formula III which is useful for preparing the pharmaceutically active compound omapatrilat.

  • Patent number: 6031004
Abstract: Novel salts of the antidiabetic agent metformin acre provided which are metformin salts of dibasic acids (2:1 molar ratio), preferably metformin (2:1) fumarate and metformin (2:1) succinate, which may be employed alone or in combination with another antihyperglycemic agent such as glyburide, for treating diabetes. A method for treating diabetes employing the novel metformin salt by itself or in combination with another antidiabetic agent is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5824263
Abstract: A ladle brick leveling set for high temperature molten metal ladles in which specially shaped refractory bricks are disposed in a slightly sloping geometrical configuration so as to compensate for a sloping bottom of a high temperature molten metal ladle. The bricks are disposed in two partial rings each of which is essentially a mirror image of the other so that the height of the leveling set varies substantially uniformly from a high point where the two mirror image portions join to a low point 180 degrees of arc displaced therefrom where the two portions again join. Each of the refractory bricks has a slight taper in height so that the ends of each brick are the same height as the juxtaposed ends of the adjoining bricks.

  • Patent number: 4626111
Abstract: A device for automatically adjusting the clearances in a roller bearing due to thermal expansion, constituting a tapered roller bearing having a dual track oppositely tapered inner race and a pair of single track tapered outer races, each outer race being in communication with a pair of coaxial, hydraulically loaded annular pistons, each of which translates in annular piston cylinders, supplied with hydraulic fluid. The hydraulic pressure of the fluid is maintained through an accumulator at a preselectable constant pressure to permit the outer races to translate axially, against the annular piston, as the inner race expands radially due to thermal expansion. Upon thermal contraction, the pressure forces the annular pistons axially toward the outer races, which, due to the taper of the races and the bearing elements, reduces the clearance created due to the thermal contraction.

  • Patent number: 4571096
Abstract: A bearing assembly for roll journals comprising a bearing box having one piece of a semi-cylindrical sleeve and fixed relative to a nip line of a roll. A bearing box having the other piece of the bearing sleeve is movable toward a roll journal resting on the first piece to provide a minimum clearance between the roll journal and the bearing sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4516491
Abstract: A cross axis roll adjusting mechanism including anti-friction bearing units arranged between a roll journal box and operating devices in a support frame to permit easy cross axis adjustment of a roll as well as a friction floating movement of the adjusted roll.

  • Patent number: 4514161
Abstract: A hydraulic roll protection system in which positioning of an adjustable roll relative to a fixed roll is caused by adjusting screws acting on movable journal boxes through a pressurized piston cylinder device. A relief valve between a hand pump and the cylinder acts to relieve excessive pressures. A switch valve connects the hand pump alternately to advance the roll journal to normal gap positions and to retract the roll from the fixed roll.
