  • Publication number: 20160032170
Abstract: Emulsions of mobility control polymers can be used to increase recovery of crude oil from a subterranean hydrocarbon-containing formation. A flooding fluid comprising the polymer emulsions are injected into a well that is in contact with the subterranean hydrocarbon-containing formation. The polymers can be temporarily cross-linked and have protected shear degradation and improved injectivity into the well; the shear resistance can be measured in terms of viscosity loss due to shear, and the improved injectivity can be measured in terms of the flooding fluid's filter ratio, flow rate, and viscosity.

  • Publication number: 20160034911
Abstract: An expert system for evaluating the criteria of environmental labels on consumer products is presented. The system employs a special purpose computer for receiving information about environmental labels, obtaining the criteria used these environmental labels, and sending information to teams of experts who independently evaluate each criteria section against the ISO standards for environmental labels. The system then stores the criteria and the expert evaluations of the criteria and calculates an overall rating for a product based on its environmental labels. The experts work independently on different aspects of rating criteria before a final to assure a reliable final rating. Users may access information about an environmental label, for example, through a mobile device with a camera and interact access. The present invention allows consumers to purchase products based on an impartial rating and avoid being misled by unreliable environmental labels.

  • Patent number: 9251539
Abstract: An automated system and method for the online settling of a transaction is provided. The system comprises a server comprising a rules based engine including rules established on behalf of a party to the transaction and genetic programming logic configured to employ the rules and determine a plurality of transaction settlement offer sets, each transaction settlement offer set based on a set of circumstances and comprising multiple simultaneously presentable and individually selectable offers, each offer configured to provide an appearance of settling the transaction. The genetic programming logic creates a description of a current transaction settlement offer set, analyzes behavior and characteristics of the current transaction settlement offer set, establishes a fitness of the current transaction settlement offer set, and modifies the current transaction settlement offer set to produce a new transaction settlement offer set. The new transaction settlement offer set is provided to the user.
