    Abstract: A belt fastener installation tool is provided with a raised belt guiding surface for inserting the belt between upper and lower plates of a belt fastener held in the tool. The raised surface keeps interference with the lower plate during belt insertion between the fastener plates to a minimum. The raised surface can be formed on a separate riser plate member for being secured to an existing belt fastener installation tool; the raised surface can be formed as an integral, one-piece member in combination with the anvil plate of the tool; and the raised surface can be formed integrally with an extruded base of the tool. Gripping structure is also optionally included on the raised surface, such as on the portion thereof under the clamp bar to provide enhanced gripping of the clamped conveyor belt.

    Abstract: A system for applying belt fasteners to belt ends is disclosed. The system includes a power tool apparatus and a guiding apparatus. The guide apparatus includes a guide block having guide bores in which attachment members, e.g., rivets, are held in position relative to the belt fasteners so that a drive rod of the power tool impacts the rivets in the guide block bores. The guide block preferably is of a hard material, e.g. a machined steel or powder steel, for proper guiding of the drive rod and rivet during riveting operations.

    Abstract: A portable belt clamping and pulling apparatus is provided to grip and pull belt ends together for splicing belt ends of a conveyor belt. A pair of belt ends are clamped between respective pairs of I-beams, the clamped belt ends are pulled together by a come-along mechanism, and the free ends of belt between the I-beams are maintained held together in a tension-free environment to allow fastening together of the belt ends. The preferred clamping jaws are in the form of at least one clamping lever pivotally mounted on a central frame having a central opening through which the I-beams are inserted. The clamping lever is connected to a pulling device that pivots the clamping lever to cause the clamping members to tightly grip a belt end between the I-beams. The clamping jaws include respective pre-tightening screws for clamping the I-beams to the belt prior to the initiation of pulling by the chains so as to eliminate slippage of the belt from between the I-beams during the initial pulling.
