  • Patent number: 4087146
Abstract: A connector assembly is disclosed for effecting electrical connection between a flat flexible cable and a flat surface, such as provided by the pads of a printed circuit board. The subject assembly includes a housing block which receives the cable along one side surface thereof and has the contacts engaged with the cable bent normal to the cable to lie adjacent a second continuous side of the housing. The housing also includes means to secure the cable in position and means to secure the assembly against a surface such as the above-mentioned printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4068912
Abstract: A method and apparatus for terminating multi-conductor flat flexible cable is disclosed. The connector assembly includes a clamp member which initially engages a multi-conductor flat cable and drives the conductors thereof to the desired spacing, which conforms to the fixed spacing of the terminals in a connector housing member. The clamped cable is then engaged with the terminal carrying housing member of the connector assembly to effect an insulation displacing engagement of the terminal with their respective conductors.

  • Patent number: 4067633
Abstract: A cam actuated connector assembly is disclosed for effecting a low insertion force mating of the connector assembly with a plurality of fixed pin or post terminals. The housing includes a first housing member adopted to hold therein a plurality of spring contact terminals and a second housing member receiving the first housing member therein with cam means therebetween for effecting relative movement of the housing members. In the normal relaxed condition of the connector assembly, the contacts are in a closed configuration. Upon actuation of the connector assembly for mating, the housing members are moved relative to one another by the cam means causing the contact terminals to be moved to an open position to receive the mating pin or post terminals. The subsequent release of the second housing member effects a closing of the terminals to an engaged condition.

  • Patent number: 4053199
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a connector portion for a filter array mounted in a panel or bulkhead. The filter and pin assemblies are soldered to the panel with their pins extending above the panel in a predetermined array for connection to an external connector. A connector housing is mounted on the panel and surrounds the filter pins, the external mating connector making a friction and/or lock securing connection to the connector housing and connection to the filter pins without application of stresses caused by an unsupported and/or unguided connection.

  • Patent number: 3987380
Abstract: The disclosure relates to EMI filters and the like wherein the possibility of dendrite formation between electrodes is substantially eliminated. This is accomplished by encasing any material forming a part of the filter or the like which is capable of supporting dendrite growth within a material that does not support the growth of dendrites so that any ionized moisture medium cannot come into intimate contact with the material capable of supporting dendrite growth and so that there is no direct path from one dendrite growth supporting electrode across the medium to the other dendrite growth supporting electrode. The encasing material is preferably gold, aluminum or platinum.

  • Patent number: 3939444
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a filter module which is self groundable when mounted on a printed circuit board. The filter modules include a pair of ground planes mounted normal to each other and each secured to the ground sleeves of the filters and also to a ground plane on the printed circuit board.
