Publication number: 20150233770Abstract: Cooktop temperature sensors and methods of operation are provided. An example cooktop appliance includes a cooktop element and a cooktop temperature sensor assembly. The cooktop temperature sensor assembly includes three springs providing support for a platform upon which a cooking vessel rests. The cooktop temperature sensor assembly includes a resistance temperature detector electrically connected to at least two of the three springs. The cooktop appliance includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations. The operations include obtaining from the cooktop temperature sensor assembly a plurality of samples of a temperature. The operations include projecting a future temperature based at least in part on the plurality of samples of the temperature. The operations include controlling the cooktop element based at least in part on the projected future temperature.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2014Publication date: August 20, 2015Applicant: General Electric CompanyInventors: Robert William Jewell, Gregory Michael Thomas, Jimmy Nelson Knight

Publication number: 20140314508Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to producing a physical copy of a key from a digital image of a key. A software program receives a digital image of a key. Based on physical ratios of the key, the software program can determine a key blank corresponding to the key. After determining the key blank, the software program can determine a key code of the key, which may then be used to produce a physical copy of the key.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2013Publication date: October 23, 2014Inventors: Jason Gregory SERIFF, Donald Stephen HAGA, III, William Jewell DAVIS, JR.

Publication number: 20140313221Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to turning snail mail into electronic mail. A digital image of the snail mail is captured using a digital camera, and an index number is applied to the digital image. The digital image is processed to remove any visible background from the digital image, and the digital image is rotated to orient the digital image in a desired orientation. The digital image may then be scanned to determine if the digital image contains a barcode. The digital image is then uploaded to a server and is accessible to an intended recipient of the snail mail.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2013Publication date: October 23, 2014Applicant: OUTBOX, INC.Inventors: Jason Gregory SERIFF, William Jewell DAVIS, JR.

Publication number: 20140136628Abstract: The present invention generally relates to turning snail mail into electronic mail. The snail mail is delivered to the intended recipient's mailbox and then retrieved (i.e., intercepted by a third party) before the intended recipient receives the snail mail from the mailbox. The retrieved mail is then converted into an electronic file that is stored on a server. The intended recipient of the snail mail may then access the electronic file to view the snail mail in electronic format. If desired, the intended recipient can request delivery of the actual snail mail after viewing the electronic file.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 9, 2012Publication date: May 15, 2014Applicant: OUTBOX, Inc.Inventors: William Jewell Davis, JR., Evan John Baehr, Jason Gregory Seriff, Donald Stephen Haga, III, Michael Joseph Dellanoce

Publication number: 20140132625Abstract: The present invention generally relates to permitting an intended recipient to access snail mail in electronic format. A third party retrieves the snail mail and then converts the snail mail into electronic files. The electronic files are then made available to the intended recipient over the internet. The electronic files are digital images of each envelope as well as the contents of each envelope. The contents are associated with the envelope from which the contents are retrieved. If desired, the intended recipient can select a desired image resolution or quality. The intended recipient can select which envelopes to view based upon the day and also based upon the class of mail.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 9, 2012Publication date: May 15, 2014Applicant: OUTBOX, INC.Inventors: Jason Gregory Seriff, Michael Joseph Dellanoce, Joyce Lee, William Jewell Davis, JR., Evan John Baehr

Patent number: 7571498Abstract: A transfer device transfers an individual from a bed to an adjacent support surface or vice versa and includes a mobile unit defined by a base and an upstanding structure having lower and upper end portions respectively adjacent to and remote from the base. A lower drive pulley and an upper idler pulley are located respectively adjacent to and remote from the base. A motor rotates the lower drive pulleys to wind thereupon a cable at least partially entrained upon the upper idler pulley. Clamps releasably connect the cable to a slide interposed between an individual and a bed or an adjacent support surface upon which an individual is reposed whereby upon operation of the motor, the slide with an individual thereon is pulled from a bed to an associated adjacent support surface or vice versa.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2008Date of Patent: August 11, 2009Inventors: William Jewell, Robert G. Godette, Vincent L. Ramik

Publication number: 20070224669Abstract: Methane is produced using self-pressurizing, self-purifying system (2) and method, which converts a biomass into a biogas using anaerobic digestion. The anaerobic digestion is conducted in a bioreactor (4) that is maintained at a near constant pressure. The biogas that is generated is separated into a non-methane gas and a methane-containing gas. The purified methane-containing gas is stored and/or transported for use as a liquid fuel. The generated methane exhibits an energy density and purity that is equivalent to liquid fuels. The system requires little or no energy input, but is usable to produce methane that is equivalent to conventional liquid fuels in terms of energy density and purity.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2005Publication date: September 27, 2007Applicant: Cornell Research Foundation, Inc.Inventor: William Jewell
