  • Patent number: 9228157
Abstract: A process for manufacturing detergent particles comprising the steps of: a) forming a liquid surfactant blend comprising a major amount of surfactant and a minor amount of water, the surfactant part consisting of at least 51 wt % linear alkylbenzene sulfonate and at least one co-surfactant, the surfactant blend consisting of at most 20 wt % nonionic surfactant; b) drying the liquid surfactant blend of step (a) in an evaporator or drier to a moisture content of at most 2 wt % and cooling the output from the evaporator or dryer; c) feeding the cooled material, which output comprises at least 93 wt % surfactant blend with a major part of LAS, to an extruder, optionally along with less than 10 wt % of other materials such as perfume, fluorescer, and extruding the surfactant blend to form an extrudate while periodically cutting the extrudate to form hard detergent particles with a diameter across the extruder of greater than 2 mm and a thickness along the axis of the extruder of greater than 0.

  • Patent number: 5800755
Abstract: An agglomerated active with controlled release comprising a particulate solid active material and a binder characterised in that the binder comprises from 0.02 to 5% by weight of a polyvinyl alcohol, based on the total weight of the agglomerate. The binder system simultaneously provides the desired hardness and release characteristics while maintaining a high level of actives. The active may be a bleach activator such as Tetraacetylethylenediamine.A process for manufacturing the agglomerate comprises the steps of mixing a particulate solid active material and optionally a portion of polyvinyl alcohol and optionally also a co-binder and then adding an agglomerating solution which optionally contains polyvinyl alcohol binder while mixing and agglomerating and drying the agglomerates to obtain an agglomerate with average particle size in the range 1-2000 microns wherein the agglomerate comprises from 0.02 to 5% by weight based on the total weight of the agglomerate of polyvinyl alcohol.

  • Patent number: 4089298
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for the live transport and storage of table fish, especially table shellfish, wherein the fish are confined in an assembly of compartments supplied with a flow of suitable water which, after its exit from the compartments, is purified, aerated and recycled to the compartments to provide a life support system. Embodiments are provided wherein each compartment is a tube, and contains a removable trough or tray, preferably subdivided by partitions to effect solitary confinement for e.g. lobsters. Specially preferred are lightweight embodiments for air transport, including the provision of disposable compartments.
