Patent number: 11796312Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to a system including a reference device, a measurement device and a processor. The measurement device provides a three-dimensional (3-D) point map corresponding to first positions of a plurality of selected points on a torso of a user. The processor determines a shape of the torso based on the 3-D point map. The measurement device is sequentially placed on the plurality of selected points, and the 3-D point map represents the first positions of the plurality of selected points relative to a second position associated with a location in 3-D space of the reference device.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2021Date of Patent: October 24, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Wegene H. Tadele, Albert Wang, Motohide Hatanaka, Nicholas R. Trincia, William K. Smith

Patent number: 10606325Abstract: A thermal management system that includes a fan assembly, a heat exchanger, and an insulating box is described. The fan assembly can have two impellers and a housing that includes two scroll portions. An internal portion of the scroll wall can be truncated. A motor housing can be connected to the fan housing via multiple struts. The struts can be oriented angularly with a tangential component and can slope inward to increase the effective inlet area. The heat exchanger can be formed of a fin stack that has a curved body that defines an airflow path that turns radially from the inlet to the exhaust. The heat exchanger can have an inlet that is smaller than the exhaust. The heat exchanger can be connected to one or more heat pipes. The insulating box can have a grid that directs air to certain specific directions.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2018Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Brett W. Degner, Eric R. Prather, William K. Smith, Anthony Joseph Aiello, Jesse T. Dybenko, Arash Naghib Lahouti, Kristopher P. Laurent

Publication number: 20120096391Abstract: Systems, methods and computer program products for the generation and management of knowledge base data to support automated e-health diagnosis systems are disclosed. Such systems, methods and computer program products provide the ability for a subject matter expert, without computer programming skills, to generate a knowledge base consisting of XML code that may be integrated into an automated e-health diagnosis system in order to provide real-time decision support. The subject matter expert may use the present invention, for example, to identify the symptoms that are relevant to a particular diagnosis, weigh symptoms relative to a given diagnosis, detail the rationale for particular decisions, and provide detailed treatment recommendations with regard to each individual diagnosis. The output of this tool may be an XML knowledge base that may be integrated, in a plug and play fashion, with the e-health diagnosis system.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 18, 2011Publication date: April 19, 2012Inventor: William K.
