Patent number: 10248909Abstract: A system and a method for estimating readiness for passing an associated summative assessment includes, after receiving test results for at least one test, generating a score Cn for each concept tested on the test. Using the score, the system computes a probability of mastery p(Mn) of the at least one concept and associates the probability of mastery p(Mn) as a prior for updating the probability after receiving future test results. The system iteratively updates the probability of mastery p(Mn) of the at least one concept after each test using for the new test score and the prior.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2016Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: Conduent Business Services, LLCInventors: William K. Patent number: 9984145Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system for verifying homogeneity in clusters and comprises a processor and a non-transitory computer readable memory storing instructions that are executable by the processor. The system creates at least one adjacency matrix representing a relationship between rows and columns of a table. The system applies an algorithm to the table to identify a first set of clusters. For each identified cluster, the system compares a computed dispersion value to a predetermined threshold. The cluster is associated as being homogeneous if the threshold is not met and not homogeneous if the threshold is met. The system reapplies the algorithm to the set of non-homogenous clusters within the data set and repeats the thresholding processes until each cluster resulting from the data set is homogeneous. Upon reaching the desired homogeneity for each cluster, the system recombines the clusters sequentially while keeping the each identified cluster together.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2015Date of Patent: May 29, 2018Assignee: CONDUENT BUSINESS SERVICES, LLCInventors: Helen H. Publication number: 20170206337Abstract: A system generates an automated survey and causes a user interface of an electronic device to present survey to a patient, so that the system can use the survey responses to identify and provide wellness or disease management content items that are tailored to the patient's behavioral needs. The system automatically generates an electronic survey document with data entry fields that each correspond to a question for a category of behavioral influence. The document includes fillable fields as presented on a user interface. When the system receives data via the fillable fields as presented on the user interface of the electronic device, it will assign a value to each response, construct a patient model, and it will use the patient model to extract intervention content items and provide the patient with those items.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2016Publication date: July 20, 2017Inventors: Michael David Shepherd, William K. Publication number: 20160225273Abstract: According to embodiments illustrated herein, there is provided a method and a mobile device for evaluating a user on a question. The method includes monitoring one or more inputs of the user, pertaining to at least one step performed for solving the question, by one or more sensors in a mobile device. While the user attempts the question, the one or more sensors also monitor one or more facial expressions of the user, which are analyzed using one or more image processing techniques. Thereafter, one or more processors in the mobile device determine if the at least one step is in accordance with a predefined set of rules deterministic of one or more correct steps involved in solving the question. Further, the one or more processors evaluate the user on the question based on the determination and the analysis of the one or more facial expressions.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2015Publication date: August 4, 2016Inventors: Kaushik Baruah, Kuldeep Yadav, Om D. Patent number: 9134675Abstract: An apparatus and method of predicting the end of life of a consumable. A basic weighted least squares algorithm has been extended and augmented to compensate for observed common consumable/printer behavior. The system uses consumable usage data (such as toner level) acquired from the device to predict the current and future consumable level and to predict the remaining life. The apparatus and method monitors the consumable's usage and updates the prediction so that when the predicted remaining life matches a preset threshold, it automatically triggers an order placement event to ship product to customer.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2013Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Ming Yang, Diane M. Foley, William K. Stumbo, Guangyu Zou

Publication number: 20130290128Abstract: The application discloses systems and methods for evaluating bids submitted by providers in response to a reverse auction process initiated by a buyer. The disclosed system determines an attribute utility score of the bid and total performance scores of providers based on the past performance records of the providers. The total performance scores of providers are determined by computing a positive deviation score, a negative deviation score, a performance among peers score, and a bid performance score of the provider. The system further sums the determined attribute utility score and the total performance score to obtain a rank of the submitted bid.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2012Publication date: October 31, 2013Applicant: Xerox CorporationInventors: Chithralekha Balamurugan, William K. Patent number: 7567364Abstract: A system generates an electronic image of a document for later retrieval through a network connection. The system uses a network accessible scanning device to enable scanning of a document to generate an electronic image thereof and an electronic repository to electronically store the electronic image. The electronic repository designates an electronic address for the stored electronic image and communicates the electronic address to the network accessible scanning device. The network accessible scanning device provides information to a user scanning the document. The information relates to the electronic repository designated address.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2004Date of Patent: July 28, 2009Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Nathaniel G. Publication number: 20040139391Abstract: An author of a document creates an electronic original (28) of the document in a word processor. The author prints (14) a hard copy (32) of the electronic original (28). An editor makes manual changes (36) to the hard copy (32), then scans it with a scanner, (40) creating a marked-up electronic copy (42). The marked-up electronic copy (42) and the electronic original (28) are compared, the original being subtracted from the marked-up copy creating a difference copy (48). The differences are assumed to be annotations, grouped, and inserted into the original document (28) as markers. The author can select the markers to make pictures of the annotations appear to aid in electronic editing.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2003Publication date: July 15, 2004Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: William K.
