Abstract: Changing eligibility for a plan benefit in a health plan includes transmitting an information request from a server computer system to a client computer of an enrollee, and determining via a processor of the server computer system predicted likelihood of misuse of a product delivered to the enrollee, responsive to data entered by the enrollee in satisfaction of the information request. The processor switches a flag setting based on the predicted likelihood, so as to adjust a record obligation of a third party payor under the health plan to pay for a product not yet delivered to the enrollee.

Abstract: Preventing multiple payment for healthcare product by a third party payor includes receiving an electronic request for third party payment, receiving electronic data indicative of an expected remainder of healthcare product in a serialized allotment, and comparing an amount of the healthcare product to be dispensed with the expected remainder. A payment fault is generated responsive to the comparison, such that payment for healthcare product already depleted from the serialized allotment is prevented.

The invention further provides a process for controlling a system of processing medical prescription information that utilizes software that controls scanning of the prescription information and electronic communication of the prescription information to a dispensary. In both embodiments, the patient controls the steps in prescription filling, preferably including entry of the prescription information.
