Publication number: 20170251052Abstract: Methods and systems for efficient data transactions between applications running on devices associated with the same host. According to one embodiment, a host system includes an HTTP proxy and an SSL/TLS proxy operatively coupled with each other. The SSL/TLS proxy may be configured to perform SSL negotiation with a client and the HTTP proxy may be configured to communicate with a web server in clear text. Data can be transferred directly between the proxies through a pair of connected sockets using a handle of the other proxy's socket. The handle includes a pointer to an address within a memory of a first device upon which the other proxy is running. In this manner, data stored at the address may be processed by a proxy running on a second device without copying the data to the second device and without the overhead associated with the TCP/IP protocol stack.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2017Publication date: August 31, 2017Applicant: Fortinet, Inc.Inventor: William A. Publication number: 20170048141Abstract: A system and method for implementing transmission parameter control at a transmitting station is described. The exemplary system and method comprises querying a transmission parameter control module for a transmission schedule. The transmission schedule comprises at least one schedule entry defining a set of transmission parameter controls as they pertain to a destination address. At least one packet of data is then transmitted to the destination address according to the transmission parameters controls of at least one schedule entry from the transmission schedule. A system and method for selecting an antenna configuration corresponding to a next transmission of packet data is also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2016Publication date: February 16, 2017Inventors: William Kish, Victor Shtrom, John Chanak

Patent number: 9453116Abstract: Composition embraces a fire retardant coating formulation that intumesces at a low temperature. The composition can be in a form of a paint, for instance, having as a primary fire retardant ingredient an ammonium phosphate and also having as a low-temperature intumescent agent an expandable graphite powder or flake. A temperature of intumescence can be substantially below 204.4° C. (400° F.) or thereabout, and it may have more than one temperature of intumescence. Such a composition can be made by contacting a fire retardant formulation, optionally with another active agent, with a low-temperature intumescencent agent under conditions sufficient to form the composition; it can be used by contacting it with a substrate, which may be otherwise flammable. Another aspect is the composition or its residue in combination with the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2009Date of Patent: September 27, 2016Assignee: No-Burn Investments, L.L.C.Inventors: Michael John Mabey, William Kish

Patent number: 9344161Abstract: Mechanisms for wireless local area network coverage enhancement using dynamic antennas are provided. The dynamic antennas may be used, for example, in an antenna apparatus of an access point. The access point maps a plurality of virtual access points (VAPs), each VAP corresponding to at least one of a plurality of directional antenna patterns of the antenna apparatus. The processor transmits broadcast communication on each of the VAPs a further distance from the access point as compared to transmitting on an omnidirectional antenna pattern of the antenna apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2009Date of Patent: May 17, 2016Assignee: RUCKUS WIRELESS, INC.Inventor: William Kish

Publication number: 20160036943Abstract: Methods and systems for an IPv4-IPv6 proxy mode for DNS servers are provided. According to one embodiment, a DNS query is received by a network device from a dual-stack client. A determination is made the network device whether a first record type containing an Internet Protocol (IP) address for a server associated with the query exists within a DNS database of the network device. If the first record type exists for the server, then communication is enabled between the client and the server based on the first record type; otherwise it is automatically determined whether a second record type usable by the client exists for the server. Responsive to a determination that the second record type exists, data associated with the second record type is shared with the client by the network device to enable communication between the client and the server.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 4, 2014Publication date: February 4, 2016Applicant: Fortinet, Inc.Inventors: William A. Publication number: 20150311599Abstract: A horizontally polarized antenna array allows for the efficient distribution of RF energy into a communications environment through selectable antenna elements and redirectors that create a particular radiation pattern such as a substantially omnidirectional radiation pattern. In conjunction with a vertically polarized array, a particular high-gain wireless environment may be created such that one environment does not interfere with other nearby wireless environments and avoids interference created by those other environments. Lower gain patterns may also be created by using particular configurations of a horizontal and/or vertical antenna array. In a preferred embodiment, the antenna systems disclosed herein are utilized in a multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) wireless environment.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2015Publication date: October 29, 2015Inventors: Victor Shtrom, William Kish, Bernard Barron
