  • Patent number: 11960707
Abstract: An electronic device provides, to a display, data to present a user interface that includes a plurality of user interface objects, and a current focus on a first user interface object. While the display is presenting the user interface, the electronic device receives an input that corresponds to a movement of a contact across on a touch-sensitive surface. The electronic device, in response to receiving the input and in accordance with a determination that a first axis is a dominant axis, moves the current focus along the first axis by a first amount and along the second axis by a second amount. The amount of movement of the current focus along the second axis is reduced to a first non-zero amount by a scaling factor that is based on one or more inputs received prior to receiving the input.

  • Patent number: 11957307
Abstract: Various apparatuses to attach a first medical device to a second medical device are described that allow the physician to grasp only a single device while the other device remains securely attached to the one being grasped. The apparatuses, once they are attached to the first medical device, are designed to be easily and quickly attached and detached to a second medical device, normally only requiring the use of one hand. Furthermore, the apparatuses oftentimes include a base that can easily couple and decouple from the portion that is attached to the second medical device so that if the need arises to separately use the second medical device, it can be decoupled from the first medical device without completely removing the apparatus from the second medical device.

  • Patent number: 5670097
Abstract: The present invention provides a shaped permeable polymeric material including a hydrophobic portion and a hydrophilic portion, wherein the material is crosslinked. This material is prepared by a method including the steps preparing a crosslinkable composition having a hydrophobic portion and a hydrophilic portion; placing the crosslinkable composition in a mold; gelling the crosslinkable composition to form a shaped gelled polymeric composition comprising a hydrophobic portion, a hydrophilic portion, and a liquid portion; and exchanging the liquid portion with an exchange liquid to form the permeable polymeric material. Preferably this material is used in a blood gas sensor.

  • Patent number: 5362009
Abstract: A corner belt guide roller for use in a belt driven tape cartridge is disclosed. The roller controls drag on the driving belt to maintain magnetic tape tension and reduce variability in the cartridge operation. The guide roller is mounted on a pivot pin through an inner cylindrical surface. The inner cylindrical surface has an oriented controlled texture including axial splines. This enables the guide roller to have controlled friction with its pivot pin, and provide a predetermined constant amount of drag to the driving belt to improve the consistency of the tape cartridge operation.

  • Patent number: 4087453
Abstract: A process for recovering monomeric glycols and glycerine from polyoxyalkylene glycols and polyglycerines which comprises heating the polymeric compounds together with a lower saturated mono-carboxylic acid, containing from 2 to 4 carbon atoms such as acetic acid, in the presence of a strong acid, e.g. sulfuric acid, or a strong acid cation exchange resin. The product, which is the diester of the monomeric glycol or the triester of glycerine, is recovered and subsequently hydrolyzed to obtain the desired monoglycol or glycerine product. If it is desired to obtain the ester itself, the latter step of hydrolyzing can be omitted.

  • Patent number: 4044007
Abstract: Adducts of certain unsaturated halides with hexamethylenetetramine are known to be effective germicides when present in concentrations as low as 0.01 percent in water-containing organic mixtures. However, under certain conditions the compounds may undergo detrimental spontaneous exothermic decomposition. Blending with the adduct an additament which undergoes an endothermic change at a temperature below that at which exothermic decomposition of the adduct decomposition thereby providing a composition stabilized for packaging and/or storage.

  • Patent number: 3996272
Abstract: This invention relates to a chemical process for preparing pentachloro-2-propanone (pentachloroacetone) and dichloroacetic acid from isopropyl ethers which may be partially chlorinated. The pentachloroacetone process is carried out by reacting the isopropyl ethers with chlorine in the presence of water to produce pentachloroacetone which can then be recovered. Alternatively, if dichloroacetic acid is desired, the pentachloroacetone process may be carried further by reacting the pentachloroacetone with a base-acting material to produce a salt of dichloroacetic acid and then reacting this salt with acid to produce dichloroacetic acid of about 95% purity.
