Patent number: 7340331Abstract: A vehicle diagnostic system monitors user-selected analog diagnostic data that is received from a vehicle to determine whether it meets a user-specified trigger characteristic and records user-selected digital diagnostic data that is received from the vehicle in response to a determination that the trigger characteristic has been met. The user-selected monitored diagnostic data may instead be digital and the user-selected recorded diagnostic data may instead be analog. The user may make both selections from a set of analog and digital diagnostic data types. Other features, objects, benefits, components, methods and variations are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2004Date of Patent: March 4, 2008Assignee: Snap-On IncorporatedInventor: William L. Welch

Patent number: 7020546Abstract: Measurement data storage is triggered in response to occurrence of a user set condition with respect to one or more user-selected measured parameters, to thereby capture real-time monitored test data. In an application for a vehicle diagnostic tool, such as an engine analyzer, the measurements and attendant display may be provided during engine operation or actual vehicle operation. The tool software allows a user to specify any one or more of the measured parameters; and for any selected parameter, the user can identify an event with regard to the selected parameter. During the test, the processor executing the software captures measured parameter data, and the processor analyses the appropriate measured parameter data with respect to any and/or all user specified conditions. Triggering may be based on occurrence of an event or combinations of events.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2003Date of Patent: March 28, 2006Assignee: Snap-On IncorporatedInventors: Ikuya N. Nagai, William L. Welch, James J. Cancilla, Dennis G. Williamson, Jr., David Steinberg, Pieter Arnold Kop

Patent number: 5972468Abstract: The present invention is directed to composites and multi-composites of a prefabricated core of a cellulosic honey comb filled with a rigid polyurethane and layers of fiber saturated thermoset resins. More specifically, the present invention is directed to composites and multi-composites of a cellulosic honey comb filled with rigid polyurethane prefabricated core and a fiber reinforced material, either fibers or woven fibers selected from the group consisting of glass, polyester, carbon and aramid fibers as a mat or cloth saturated with a thermoset resin selected from the group consisting of catalyzed polyester, amine catalyzed epoxy, catalyzed vinyl ester and acid catalyzed furan resins.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1998Date of Patent: October 26, 1999Assignee: Welch-Sluder IP PartnersInventors: William L. Welch, Don W. Sluder, Richard L. Cory

Patent number: 5611974Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for preparing or repairing a machine foundation by using a hollow form which surrounds vertically extending reinforcement rods and is filled with a fortifying material to secure the hollow form to a slab. The form is preferably made of an aggregate filled thermosetting resin or a thermoplastic resin which are corrosion and chemical resistant materials free from fluid attack such as the liquids in the machine, for example, in a pump the fluids being either the lubricating fluids or the fluids being pumped. More particularly, the present invention is directed to a hollow form which may be used either to prepare a machine foundation or to repair a degraded slab or foundation and preferably is a single form.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1995Date of Patent: March 18, 1997Assignee: Welch-Sluder IP PartnersInventors: William L. Welch, Don W. Sluder, Wallace D. Hill

Patent number: 5419529Abstract: The present invention is directed to reusable molds which are used to mold various pieces including a modular contained machine foundation unit. Most pieces are molded as a hollow form which surrounds vertically extending reinforcement rods and is filled with a fortifying material to secure the hollow form to a slab. The hollow form is preferably made of an aggregate filled thermosetting resin which is a corrosion and chemical resistant material.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1993Date of Patent: May 30, 1995Assignee: APT, Inc.Inventors: William L. Welch, Don W. Sluder, Richard L. Cory

Patent number: 5240223Abstract: The present invention is directed to a reuseable mold for casting a hollow form made of an aggregate filled thermosetting resin. The reuseable mold includes an outer mold, made from sheets of thermoplastic resin, and an inner mold, also made from sheets of thermoplastic resin, having a base with plugable opening(s) for connecting an air supply for popping the inner mold from the cast hollow form fabricated in the reuseable mold. The sheets are preferably 1" sheets of polyethylene.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1991Date of Patent: August 31, 1993Assignee: Apt, Inc.Inventors: William L. Welch, Don W. Sluder, Richard L. Cory

Patent number: 5165651Abstract: The present invention is directed to a hollow form which is to be used as a machine foundation. The form is made of an aggregate filled thermosetting resin or a thermoplastic resin which are corrosion and chemical resistant materials free from fluid attack such as the liquids used in the machine, for example, in a pump either the lubricating fluids or the fluids being pumped. More particularly, the present invention is directed to a hollow form which may be used either to prepare a machine foundation or to repair a degraded slab or foundation and preferably is a single form. The preferred form has vertical walls and a single, top horizontal wall through which polymeric concrete can be poured to fill the form. An alternative form may be made of two pieces.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1990Date of Patent: November 24, 1992Assignee: APT, Inc.Inventors: William L. Welch, Don W. Sluder, Wallace D. Hill
