  • Patent number: 5819443
Abstract: A new snow removal apparatus for removing snow and other debris from travel surfaces. The inventive device includes an elongate frame member with a plurality of overlapping finger members extending from the frame member. The frame member is designed to be coupled to a vehicle or a mounting frame of a snowplow. The finger members are designed to adjust to an uneven surface to remove snow or debris therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4873801
Abstract: A simple dock seal and guard having wear resistant, wear reducing and self-positioning characteristics for use around loading dock doorways. The dock seal comprises a pair of mounting brackets, a rocker arm assembly and multiple overlapping vertical sealing strips. The rocker arm assembly includes two arms, each having an inner end and an outer end, counterweight support means, horizontal counterweighting bars and a horizontal anchoring bar. The rocker arms are each rotatably attached to one of the mounting brackets generally in the center of the rocker arm. The rocker arms rotate, as a result of the attachment of the counterweighting bars, in a manner whereby the outer ends of the rocker arms are higher than the inner ends when said arms are at rest. The strips are fabricated of resilient, abrasion-resistant material and the free ends of some of said sealing strips have weights attached to them.

  • Patent number: 4368104
Abstract: An inspection hole cover for coke ovens includes a bowl-shape shell made of a material having relatively low magnetic properties such as 300 Series stainless steel. The shell is filled with a suitable heat insulating material such as a hardened refractory filler or ceramic fiber. A closure member may also be provided at the open end of the shell for retaining the heat insulating material within the cover. Because the cover is relatively non-magnetic, it is not subject to inadvertent removal by magnetic lifts used in coking facilities. However, provision is made for lifting the inspection hole cover by a hook, and a method of making the cover is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4067451
Abstract: An improved apparatus for upending a work piece is disclosed which achieves a greater driving torque during the early portion of the actuation thereof. The apparatus consists of a base member supporting a first and second horizontal pivot shafts which are mutually parallel and spaced from one another. A carriage member is pivotally mounted on the first shaft, having a first end of a lever arm mounted thereto and a second end located proximate to the second pivot shaft. A linear driving means has a housing with a first end proximate to the lever arm pivotally mounted on the second pivot shaft. The housing contains a linear driving member having a force transmitting end pivotally connected to the second end of the lever arm. The housing rotates about the second pivot shaft during the early portion of the actuation of the linear driving means. In this manner, a greater torque may be applied to the carriage by the linear driving means during the early portion of the actuation thereof.
