  • Publication number: 20150122954
Abstract: A variable area engine inlet of a helicopter is provided and includes first inlet portions disposed to face one another in opposite directions and at a distance from one another and second inlet portions extending between the first inlet portions and being disposed to face one another in opposite directions and at a distance from one another. The first and second inlet portions define a capture area and at least one or both of the first and second inlet portions include a movable portion disposed to occupy and move between first and second positions. The first position is associated with a non-constricted condition of the capture area and the second position is associated with a constricted condition of the capture area.

  • Patent number: 8659301
Abstract: This invention is a system that will prevent damage to electronics if the service neutral line is broken or damaged, or if other failures cause the voltage between the active line and neutral line to increase above typical regulated values. Damage to the service neutral line can cause erratic voltages between the active line and ground terminals of a home or business, often damaging electronics without tripping circuit breaker switches. This design is an easily-built, easily-installed and cost effective way to determine if the voltage between the active line and the neutral line is too high and, if so, disable current from reaching electronic equipment.

  • Publication number: 20130313371
Abstract: An inlet duct for an engine or multiple engines includes two or more joining duct legs and a pressure relief pathway located at each duct leg to condition inlet airflow from the duct legs. A method of operating an aircraft includes urging an inlet airflow into two or more duct openings disposed at a fuselage of the aircraft. The inlet airflow is urged through two or more converging inlet duct legs extending from the two or more duct openings toward an engine inlet. A portion of the inlet airflow is flowed from at least one inlet duct leg of the two or more inlet duct legs into a pressure relief pathway. An inlet duct for an engine or multiple engines includes one or more inlet duct legs and a bypass leg extending from an inlet duct leg of the one or more inlet duct legs through a bypass opening.

  • Publication number: 20080083475
Abstract: Beverage fill detection apparatuses may take the form of a coaster, where opaque beverage containers are placed on top, and a fill level for the beverage container is indicated. The apparatus includes a pressure sensor which determines the pressure associated with the beverage container, and based on comparisons to one or more reference values, determines a fill level of the beverage container and displays the fill level.

  • Publication number: 20050127250
Abstract: A cushion lift assembly for raising and lowering the front and rear portions of an automobile seat independently and/or simultaneously. The cushion lift assembly includes mounting members and a pair of connecting members interconnecting the mounting members. The connecting members are formed from three stamped members including a first elongated stamped member and two bracket members mounted near opposite ends of the first stamped member. Each of the stamped members includes a rib formed therein. The ribs cooperate to define an annular opening in which a pivot member is received.

  • Publication number: 20050007876
Abstract: A method of determining a fluid property in a subsurface region of interest of an earth formation uses measurements of seismic attributes on seismic data. For a test region, a plurality of realizations of rock properties are specified, and for each of the realizations and a selected value of a fluid property, the seismic attribute is modeled. This defines a probability density function (PDF). Comparison of the PDF of the model output with the PDF on the measured seismic data is used to determine the likelihood of the selected fluid property.

  • Patent number: 6329904
Abstract: An apparatus, including an alert device having a receiver, and method are provided for receiving location-specific alert information broadcast via particular telecommunication transmitters operating within a cellular, PCS, or other wireless telecommunications network, thereby allowing delivery of a location-specific message to a user without requiring the input of data representative of the location of the alert device's receiver. The alert device includes a receiver for receiving digital messages in the form of broadcast short messages on a digital control channel, a microcomputer having a monitoring circuit that monitors received digital messages for the presence of an alert code associated with alert messages regarding an alert condition, and a plurality of peripheral devices which produce various tones and flashing lights in response to the alert device's reception of an appropriate alert message.
