Patents by Inventor William Lawrence Schinski

William Lawrence Schinski has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20190100708
Abstract: Described herein are fuel modifiers for natural gas reciprocating engines, while recognizing the application of the inventions herein may be applied more broadly, to other natural gas-based engine systems. The fuel modifiers are primarily free-radical initiators, and the presence of this fuel modifier allows the engine operator to operate the engine under leaner conditions because, while employing the same ignition energy, more free-radicals are formed, thus overcoming the problems associated with dilution of the pool of free-radicals in the flame.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 4, 2018
    Publication date: April 4, 2019
Inventors: John Bradley Roucis, Amir Gamal Maria, William Lawrence Schinski, Malika Mukundan, John Gerard Wolff

  • Patent number: 8894818
Abstract: The present invention discloses processes for generating a hydrocarbon feedstock for biofuels synthesis from lignin via hydroprocessing. Embodiments of the present invention can occur in a refinery setting or in a paper mill setting. Embodiments of the present invention can utilize the separated lignin or the entire black liquor solution.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 28, 2008
Date of Patent: November 25, 2014
    Assignee: Chevron U.S.A. Inc.
Inventors: William Lawrence Schinski, Alexander E. Kuperman, Jinyi Han, Douglas Gene Naae

  • Patent number: 8486161
Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to methods for processing lignin-containing biomass so as to render it more amenable to hydroprocessing, wherein such processing typically reduces the level of oxygen in the biomass. Following such processing, the resulting reduced-oxygen lignin-derived product can be hydroprocessed into a biofuel suitable for use as a transportation fuel. Additionally, in some embodiments, such methods can be integrated with one or more other processes, wherein such other processes can be production and/or logistical in nature.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 16, 2008
Date of Patent: July 16, 2013
    Assignee: Chevron U.S.A. Inc.
Inventors: James F. Stevens, William Lawrence Schinski
