    Abstract: The present invention includes a hygiene apparatus, more specifically, the hygiene apparatus includes a housing and replaceable absorbent portion. The hygiene apparatus can include an electronic monitoring system and sensory feedback system. The absorbent portion and electronic monitoring system are retained within the housing. The electronic monitoring system includes an electronic portion which detects fluids and activates a sensory feedback signal to the user when fluids contact the system and can thereby warn the user before leakage of fluids beyond the article occurs. The user can remove and replace the absorbent cartridge accordingly. The electronic monitoring system can also include a biosensor to analyze the fluids discharged, process the analyzed information, and provide the physiological information regarding the fluids to the user. The electronic monitoring system can also transfer the information to a remote device so that the user can view the results of system's analysis.

    Abstract: The present invention includes an absorbent article, more specifically, an absorbent article including a leakage warning system. The leakage warning system is located along the outer perimeter of the absorbent article. Fluids activate the leakage warning system. Thus, when fluids reach the outer perimeter of the absorbent article, the leakage warning system is activated. Once activated, the leakage warning system provides a warning signal that fluids have reached the edge of the absorbent article. In one embodiment, the leakage warning system is a liquid-activated band. Once activated, the band provides a temperature-change sensation to the user to signal that the fluids have reached the edge of the absorbent article and thus warns a user of possible leakage before it actually occurs.

    Abstract: A trapezium prosthesis is provided for replacement of a diseased trapezium of a hand. Also shown is a surgical technique for placement of the prosthesis. Rather than utilizing hemiarthoplasty or total joint replacement, the trapezium is replaced with the prosthesis made of a material other than silicon. The prosthesis has specially prepared surfaces to encourage the growth and attachment of surrounding tissue.

    Abstract: A reinforcing strip is applied to sheets by longitudinally advancing a leading sheet while the strip is adhered to it along a travel path to a downstream stop station and thereby drawing the strip from a supply and extending it longitudinally through an upstream stop station while simultaneously adhering the strip to the full length of the leading sheet. Then the leading sheet is arrested in the downstream stop station while a trailing sheet upstream of the arrested leading sheet is advanced downstream until a leading edge of the trailing sheet engages an upstream stop in the upstream station immediately upstream of a trailing edge of the leading sheet. The trailing sheet is then arrested with its leading edge engaging the upstream stop which it pushes downstream against the upstream edge of the leading sheet. Generally simultaneously the strip is adhered upstream of the upstream stop to the trailing sheet and the strip is severed at the upstream stop between the leading and trailing sheets.
