  • Patent number: 5453912
Abstract: A radio assembly (100) includes a radio chassis (120) and radio housing (150). The radio chassis (120) includes a resilient cantilever arm (130) having an engaging portion (135). The radio housing (150) includes a mount channel (156) to position the cantilever arm (130), and a ramped catch portion (157) within the mount channel (156) to engage the engaging portion (135) of the cantilever arm (130) and to secure the radio chassis (120) within the radio housing (150). The chassis (120) is mounted to the radio housing (150) such that the engaging portion (135) of the cantilever arm (130) is positioned within the mount channel (156). The engaging portion (135) of the cantilever arm (130) is biasedly engaged with the ramped catch portion (157), and is deflectable so as to disengage from the ramped catch portion (157) when a deflecting force is applied to the engaging portion (135).

  • Patent number: 5147990
Abstract: A slide switch (10) comprises a housing (12) having at least one cantilever beam (22 and 23) integrally formed in the housing (12). A keypad (24 and 25) is arranged and constructed below at least one of the cantilever beams (22 and 23). A horizontal slide actuator (30) is arranged and constructed to slide over the cantilever beam (22 and 23) for substantially biasing the cantilever beam (22 and 23) toward the keypad (24 and 25).

  • Patent number: 5086200
Abstract: A rotary switch, having at least two operating positions, includes a molded base with a printed electric circuit plated on at least one surface of the base, and at least one detent for providing the operating positions for the rotary switch. The detents also provided at least one electrical contact. A rotating contact member is rotatably attached to the base. The rotating contact member includes at least one electrical contact formed thereon for providing at least one connection with the printed electric circuit as the rotating contact member rotates.

  • Patent number: 4942380
Abstract: A electromagnetically shielded and insulated housing assembly (500) is provided having a housing member (200) and a flexible member (100). The housing member has an open side (240) and enclosing sides (215). The flexible member has a layer (110,180,185) of conductive material disposed on selected areas of each opposing side (150,155). The conductive areas are electrically connected by a plurality of conductive feed-throughs (120,115). One side of the flexible member also has adhesive areas (130,125), which are separated from the conductive area. The conductive area of the flexible member is placed over the open side of the housing member and covers it, and thereby electrical contact between the housing and the peripheral edges (250) of the open side is produced. Upward folding of the flexible member bonds the adhesive areas to the opposed enclosing sides of the housing. The other side of the flexible member is connected to a main ground, thereby electromagnetically shielding the housing assembly.

  • Patent number: 4680676
Abstract: A portable radio housing has a shield that provides electromagnetic isolation between logic and radio boards operating on close frequencies. The radio board is positioned in a conductive frame having fours sides surrounding a central opening. A tab on the frame is connected to a power module on the radio board to sink heat from the power module. A middle shield having sides with integral spring fingers at calculated intervals is attached to the frame over the rear surface of the radio board. A logic board and rear shield are attached to the frame over the middle shield. A connector protrudes through an opening in the middle shield and interconnects the logic and radio boards. A front shield, also having sides with integral spring fingers, is attached to the frame over the front surface of the radio board. The front shield has an integral speaker baffle and tabs for holding a connector. An outer housing and keypad/display module enclose the frame.

  • Patent number: 4586764
Abstract: An electrical subassembly structure of two substrates has metalized portions located adjacent to the upper and lower edges on the back of each substrate. Clip on leads are attached to one substrate with a portion of each lead soldered to the lower edge metalized portion. The two substrates are electrically and mechanically joined by soldering upper edge metalized portions together and soldering the lower edge metalized portions of the other substrate to the lead portions.
