  • Patent number: 4254361
Abstract: A display device adapted to display one or more characters side by side in a row and including an insulating support plate, on the top surface of which are formed a plurality of groups of conductive members, each group being adapted to be energized to display a character. The device includes various configurations of anode electrodes, shielding electrodes, and interconnections of common characters in each group to provide manufacturing economies.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 3, 1975
Date of Patent: March 3, 1981
    Assignee: Burroughs Corporation
Inventors: Saul Kuchinsky, Roger W. Wolfe, Thomas C. Maloney, William M. Hennessey
  • Patent number: 4220809
Abstract: The disclosure is of electronic apparatus having a keyslot in its housing, by which it is coupled to a mounting screw. To protect the electronic circuitry inside the housing, the keyslot is covered internally by a layer of insulating paper and a thin metal sheet which overlies the paper and which is cemented to the surface of the housing adjacent to the keyslot. With this arrangement, the keyslot is accessible externally of the equipment for insertion of a screw; however, the inner circuit elements are completely and permanently sealed off from the outside world.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 2, 1980
    Assignee: Burroughs Corporation
Inventors: William M. Hennessey, Frederick E. Bratro
  • Patent number: 4023877
Abstract: The disclosure is of a connector comprising an insulating body which carries a cable having exposed conductors to be pressed into contact with electrode contacts on a substrate. One end of the cable is secured to a printed circuit board or the like. The cable extends over an insert of a synthetic resinous material in the body, which serves to press its conductors into intimate engagement with the conductors on the substrate, and a spring-like clamp, which is coupled to the body, snaps into place and clamps the connector to the substrate, with the cable properly engaging the substrate.

  • Patent number: 4023878
Abstract: The disclosure is of an insulating body which is adapted to clamp together a device having contact pads and a multi-wire cable which is to be electrically connected to the contact pads on the device. The body carries a generally U-shaped spring which, when open, permits the device and cable to be coupled together with zero force and, when closed, clamps the device and cable together in intimate engagement.

  • Patent number: RE28799
Abstract: The bracket includes an elongated base member having a series of first apertures for receiving (1) metallic connectors for making electrical contact with the electrodes of a display panel, and for receiving (2) a pair of alignment members for properly aligning the panel when it is coupled to the bracket. The elongated base member also includes an array of second apertures which are adapted to receive a plurality of vertical support members which are constructed so that they can be secured to a printed circuit board or the like. The vertical members can also be provided with movable arms for engaging and holding the display panel. The base member and the upright members are designed so that two base members can be connected together in series, and they can be held together mechanically by an upright member which engages both base members simultaneously.
