  • Publication number: 20240119735
Abstract: Systems and methods of monitoring inventory of a product storage facility include an image capture device configured to move about the product storage areas of the product storage facility and capture images of the product storage areas from various angles. A computing device coupled to the image capture device obtains the images of the product storage areas captured by the image capture device and processes the obtained images of the product storage areas to detect individual products captured in the obtained images. Based on detection of the individual products captured in the images, the computing device analyzes each of the obtained images to detect one or more adjacent product storage structures (shelves, pallets, etc.) and identifies and selects a single image that fully shows a product storage structure of interest and fully shows each of the products stored on the product storage structure of interest.

  • Patent number: 5818677
Abstract: A surge arrester (1) includes varistor elements (2) forming a stack (3) and having opposed end surfaces (4a, 4b). The varistor stack is electrically connected via the opposed end surfaces to end terminals (7a, 7b) having circumferential ridges (32a, 32b), which, in the event of failure of the varistor elements, are designed to relocate the resulting arc and direct it in a manner which reduces or minimizes damage to the surge arrester. The ridges serve as damage-tolerant sacrificial rooting points for an arc in the event of varistor element failure by presenting a substantial metal mass for the arc to erode away.

  • Patent number: 5757604
Abstract: A surge arrester has end terminals having circumferential ridges, which, in the event of failure of varistor elements of the surge arrester, are designed to relocate the resulting arc and direct it in a manner which reduces or minimizes damage to the surge arrester. Grooves lead from the inner surface of the terminals to the ridges, to facilitate arc relocation.

The varistor stack is electrically connected via the opposed end surfaces to end terminals having circumferential ridges, which, in the event of failure of the varistor elements, are designed to relocate the resulting arc and direct it in a manner which reduces or minimizes damage to the surge attester. The ridges serve as damage-tolerant sacrificial rooting points for an arc in the event of varistor element failure by presenting a substantial metal mass for the arc to erode away.

  • Patent number: 5680289
Abstract: A surge arrester has a single varistor element or a stack of varistor elements held between two end terminals by a plurality of elongate strength members disposed therearound. The ends of the strength members are inserted into recesses in the end terminals. Crimping of the end terminals distorts the recesses sufficiently to hold the strength members firmly therewithin, but without shearing and crushing (or otherwise damaging) the strength members.

  • Patent number: 5363266
Abstract: A sealed vented surge arrester and method of manufacture is described wherein the valve elements are held under compressive loading while strength members including a moisture sealing void filling compound are pressed fit from the sides of the unit with a shed applied over it. The design achieves all the desirable features of tubular strength members with an ease of manufacture from utilizing half-shell or more members which can be applied from the sides along the longitudinal axis of the valve elements during manufacture to provide better void filling between the structural members and the valve elements.

  • Patent number: 4865086
Abstract: The invention provides a method of twisting the conductors of one or more electrical wires, the method comprising:(a) assembling the conductors into a bundle;(b) inserting the bundle of conductors into a wire twister which comprises an elongate body having an axially extending cavity formed therein, the cavity being open at one end and having a substantially closed cross-section with four sides, at least one of the sides of the cavity being inclined to the axis of the body so that the cavity is tapered inwardly away from the open end, the ratio of the length of the longest side to the length of the shortest side at the axial position at which the conductors, when twisted to form a substantially circular array, contact two opposite sides of the cavity being from about 1.0 to about 3.0; and(c) imparting rotation to the wire twister relative to the conductors, while maintaining the conductors in contact with at least two of the sides of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 4748536
Abstract: The disclosed capacitors include an assembly of a wound capacitor section having at least one metallized electrode, being prone to develop explosive pressure when a fault occurs, and an interrupter in series with the capacitor section. The interrupter cooperates mechanically with the wound section to rupture the interrupter in response to fault-induced internal pressure, the whole being contained in an enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4484704
Abstract: A solder delivery system has a continuous element of solder material adjacent to at least one polymeric layer, which is provided with window means to control the flow of solder. The layers, if there are more than one, may be separate pieces, or may be parts of a folded sheet or a tube of polymeric material. In use, the conductors to be soldered are placed adjacent to corresponding terminals of a substrate and the system placed in contact with and perpendicular to the conductors, with the window means towards the conductors. On the application of heat and pressure, the solder melts and flows toward the terminals, and solder bridges are prevented by the "window frames" which lie between the terminals.

  • Patent number: 4001657
Abstract: Wound capacitors have a resistive strip included as an integral part of the capacitor section or roll. End areas of the resistive strip are in physical and electrical contact with the electrode strips, respectively, the rest of the strip discharging electrical energy stored in the capacitor when it is disconnected from a source of power. The portion of the resistive strip between the end areas is electrically insulated from the electrode strips so that current flows along the strip between the end contact areas. In one embodiment, the resistive strip extends about the winding, and in a second embodiment the resistive strip extends transverse to the electrode strips and loops around the edges of the electrode strips and the separating dielectric strips at the end of the capacitor section. If the capacitors are impregnated, the impregnant improves the ability of the resistive strip to withstand the voltage that is applied to the unit and to withstand and dissipate the heat generated in the strip.
