    Abstract: A powder spray coating system has a controller configurable to a variety of different system configurations. Configuration data is keyed by an operator from menu prompts and stored for use by a microprocessor based operating program to operate the supply of powder and air to a powder spray gun. The microprocessor also presents information from monitored parameters of the system, including the supply air dew point which is monitored to provide warning signals of potential condensation in the system. Dew point detection is accomplished by measuring temperature and relative humidity and comparing the measurements with values for air at the maximum acceptable dew point. Alternatively, measurement of absolute humidity and supply air pressure are used to compute the dew point of the air which is compared with the actual temperature and maximum dew point temperature.

    Abstract: A foam material dispensing system is provided with a control which measures the amount of high viscosity liquid material delivered to a mixer, determines the amount of pressurized gas required to be injected into the mixer in order to produce a foamable material with a desired gas concentration, measures the amount of gas actually delivered to the mixer, and generates a cumulative error signal representing the difference between the required amount of gas and the gas actually delivered. A control signal is generated to regulate the flow of gas to the mixer in relation to the magnitude of the error signal. A digital flow meter generates a pulse for each incremental amount of liquid material delivered to the mixer during an interval of time. During each successive interval, the pulses are counted and the count is multiplied by a preset gas-to-material ratio, from which the measured gas flow is subtracted and the difference added to the cumulative error term.

    Abstract: An electrical load controller includes a combination of switches for selecting a desired load output level, an electronic custom gate array for converting the switch signals to a parallel binary number, a parallel to serial data encoder for converting the multi-bit parallel data signal into a multi-bit serial data signal, a frequency shift key connected to a resonant circuit generating a controllable high frequency signal and for shifting the high frequency either up or down from the center frequency coupled to a power line to transmit the binary serial data onto the power line. The system also includes a fail-safe construction so that, should the control system fail, the load will be operable. The system provides continuous communication from the controller to the power line, so that should noise interfere with one data transmission, subsequent data transmission will provide correct data to the load, thereby making load control nearly immune to extraneous noise on the power line.
