  • Publication number: 20090222117
Abstract: A portable digital media playback apparatus is preloaded with digital media files for preview. The files may be tagged with information to indicate the user wishes to purchase the digital media file or purchase certain digital rights associated with the digital media file. When the portable device is re-synched with a library of digital media files available for purchase, the files designated for purchase are downloaded to the portable device. In one embodiment, a user profile is created and includes a record of user events relating to the digital media files previewed, deleted or purchased. The content provider adopts a set of criteria for matches and creates a list of additional digital media files that are compatible with the user and which will be pushed down to the portable device the next time that the user synchronizes the device.

  • Publication number: 20080051779
Abstract: Force-controlled autodistraction for lengthening a bone is disclosed. A distractor is coupled to a first fixator and to a second fixator distal to the first fixator. The distractor has a known distractor stiffness. The first fixator is configured to be coupled to a first portion of the bone, and the second fixator is configured to be coupled to a second portion of the bone. The first and second portions are on opposite sides of an osteotomy of the bone. A motor is controllable to produce a motion of the first fixator relative to the second fixator such that the first portion of the bone is distracted from the second portion of the bone. A force sensor is configured to measure a resistant force to the motion, and a distractor displacement sensor is configured to measure a distractor displacement. A controller is operably coupled to the force sensor, the distractor displacement sensor, and the motor.

  • Publication number: 20060025006
Abstract: A retaining system (1) that retains the front portion of a cable (7) in a connector housing (3). A sleeve device (21) has a base (25) with a hole (34) through which the cable extends, and has a pair of arms (27) with part-cylindrical inner surfaces that press against the cable to grip it. The arms have rear ends with recess (31). When the sleeve device is pushed fully forward into the connector housing, a bridging device (23) is pushed through an opening (15) into the housing. Legs (37) of the bridging element are inserted into the arm recesses (31) and prevent pull-out of the sleeve device and cable.
