  • Patent number: 10479665
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for use in the movement of goods and includes a transportable goods storage area or trailer. The trailer can be moved to a position adjacent a platform of lifting apparatus to allow goods to be moved to and from the trailer. A bridging assembly including one or more bridge portions is provided to form a bridge between the plat form and floor of the trailer. In one embodiment weight detection means are provided to allow the weight of the transportable goods storage area or trailer, and the goods therein, to be detected and compared to predetermined weight limits.

  • Publication number: 20180022400
Abstract: The invention relates to a goods storage trailer including connection means to allow the trailer to be connected to a tractor unit and a plurality of wheels which allow the trailer to be moved along a surface. The trailer is formed by a base, opposing sidewalls, opposing end walls, a roof and a deck located intermediate the roof and base so as to define two storage areas within the cavity of the trailer. At one of the ends, there is provided a door assembly which is movable between open and closed positions to allow access to the cavity and the base is formed by a plurality of portions at different heights with respect to said support surface and the floor of the base and the upper deck are used to locate goods thereon.

  • Patent number: 8978830
Abstract: The invention relates to a lifting apparatus of a type which can be used to allow movement of goods to and from and between first and second goods storage areas. The apparatus is located in a space between openings into both of said storage areas and includes a platform which can be raised in the vertical plane so as to allow differences in height between floors of the respective goods storage areas to be taken into account such that for example goods can be moved onto the platform of the lifting apparatus from a first floor height on a first goods storage area to a floor of a second goods storage area at a different height. The lifting apparatus can be used to move goods to and from a floor of a goods storage area which is at the similar height to a support surface on which the other of the goods storage areas is located, with the other of the goods storage areas typically being a vehicle trailer.

  • Publication number: 20110095247
Abstract: The invention relates to a locking assembly for use with lifting apparatus which includes a platform which is movable with respect to guide means. The locking assembly is provided in an unlocked condition during normal operation of the lifting apparatus but, when failure of movement means for the platform occurs such as to allow an uncontrolled movement of the platform the locking assembly is caused to move to a locked position with respect to the guide means so as to prevent further uncontrolled movement of the platform, and therefore prevent damage to goods and/or personnel which may be on the platform at the time of failure of the movement means.

  • Publication number: 20030147734
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved goods storage system in a member of embodiments for a goods storage area in the form of a vehicle or railway trailer. The improvements allow the goods supporting base to extend beyond externally of the goods storage area and allow the transportation of the goods to an from an external surface. In addition or alternatively, if the floor of the storage area has a number of different levels the base can be provided to be raised and lowered to the adjacent each of the different levels.

  • Patent number: 6394419
Abstract: A lifting apparatus for lifting articles or persons between raised and lowered positions comprising a base which is movable between raised and lowered positions and a support frame in relation to which the base is movable. Guide means are provided to guide the movement of the base between raised and lowered positions and power means are provided to allow the base to move between the positions. The apparatus is also provided with wheels or rollers which allow the apparatus to be moved along a surface and the wheels or rollers can be moved between an in-use position with the wheels contacting the surface and a retracted position with the wheels above the surface.

  • Patent number: 6161340
Abstract: The invention relates to a goods storage area such as for use in transporting goods which are compressible and which can be loaded with the roof of the area, or possibly the floor, side or end walls of the same, in an extended position to define an area greater than the goods storage area. The compressible goods are loaded into the greater area defined and the roof, side wall or floor is returned to the closed position to compress the goods into the goods storage area. In order to allow sufficient strength for compression the invention provides for at least one intermediate support frame between the end walls and with means to cause the required movement between extended and closed positions to allow improved use of the storage area and strength of the goods storage area.

  • Patent number: 5836636
Abstract: The invention relates to the provision of movable floors in a storage area and to the solution of the problem with conventional floors wherein the capacity of said storage areas are not utilised due to inaccessible areas or the machinery required to provide existing movable floors. The invention is of particular use in trailers or trucks for road or rail movement. The invention provides at least one frame (54) which forms a goods lifting and storage base, said frame supported by a series of first guide (10) means and, in one aspect said first means are mounted on a series of second guide means (56). At least one frame provided is capable of movement in relation to at least one of the guide means provided to ensure that goods can be moved into previously inaccessible areas. The formation of the guide means also ensures that minimum space is lost due to the provision of the movable frames.
