    Abstract: A device is disclosed that can be used to immobilize the neck of patients suffering from blunt trauma injuries to the cervical spine. The device implements biomechanically justified features to immobilize the spine without further harming the patient. In certain embodiments, the device immobilizes the neck by limiting head motion in relation to the upper body.

    Abstract: This invention is metabolically engineer bacterial strains that provide increased intracellular NADPH availability for the purpose of increasing the yield and productivity of NADPH-dependent compounds. In the invention, native NAD-dependent GAPDH is replaced with NADP-dependent GAPDH plus overexpressed NADK. Uses for the bacteria are also provided.
