  • Patent number: 6325563
Abstract: A manually operable spreading apparatus for uniformly spreading a flowable material, such as a sealant or adhesive, on a surface comprises a rod with a transversely extending replaceable foam spreader pad at one end and a reservoir chamber for the flowable material mounted on the rod. A valve at the reservoir lower end is operable to discharge material from the reservoir for engagement with the spreader pad . The spreader pad is provided with a pair of spring urged side pads pivoted at its ends to form therewith a rectangular structure confining the flowable material to the area over which the spreader moves. A handle is provided part way down the rod to enable the operator to control the pressure of the pad on the surface.

  • Patent number: 5937628
Abstract: A manually operable spreading apparatus for uniformly spreading flowable material, such as a sealant or adhesive, on a surface comprises a handle with a transversely extending spreader blade at one end and a reservoir chamber for the flowable material mounted on the handle. Valve means at the resevoir lower end are operable to discharge material from the reservoir for engagement by the spreader blade. Preferably the reservoir chamber is provided with a lining of flexible plastics material that also comprises a container for the flowable material. The lining preferably is of length greater than the reservoir chamber so that its lower end extends into the close neighbourhood of the spreader blade. The lining may be provided by a sealed bag of the material, the lower end of which is opened after installation, or by an open-ended tube, the lower ends of the bag or tube being closable by the valve means.

  • Patent number: 5605500
Abstract: A vacuum attachment assembly is provided for use in combination with a corner sanding tool comprising a replaceable sander block of resilient foam material having a transverse cross section of the form of an isosceles triangle. The block is removably mounted on a carrier member which is inserted into a close-fitting chamber within the block body through a narrow entrance passage, the carrier being connected to a handle. The vacuum attachment comprises a C-shaped body having two parallel end portions extending from a central portion, and the sander block is of sufficient length that it must be compressed somewhat longitudinally for it to be inserted into the assembly, which is thereby frictionally retained under the resilience of the sander block body material. The attachment central portion has two parallel side walls which are butted by the resilient sander block to establish an air-tight, air-receiving plenum chamber between the attachment member and the sander block.

  • Patent number: 5239783
Abstract: A motorized rotary sander is provided with an efficient dust pick-up system which particularly adapts it to drywall sanding. The abrasive discs used in the system are designed to provide an improved finish on drywall and similar surfaces. The discs are quickly and easily replaced by virtue of the bayonet type fastening system. The combination results in a highly efficient drywall sanding device which requires minimum skill on the part of the user and can produce superior results.

  • Patent number: 5178048
Abstract: Fastener drivers are modified by fastening a flexible strap of magnetic material adjacent the driving end of the tool. The fastener is retained on the tool by the magnetic force provided by the strap thus freeing the hands of the user. The strap may be conveniently adapted to a variety of driving tool.

  • Patent number: 4825597
Abstract: A hand sanding tool for sanding corner joints in dry wall construction comprises a resilient foam block shaped to fit the corner and faced with suitable abrasive grit. A carrier is provided for demountably supporting the foam block and properly distributing the force over the faces of the foam block. The carrier is mounted on a handle by a simple universal joint and the handle is arranged to receive an extension piece.

  • Patent number: 4782632
Abstract: A drywall sander comprises an electric motor and a rotary sanding head mounted at opposite ends of an arm so that the machine is balanced when the user grasps the arm just in front of the motor. The sanding is pivotally mounted on the arm so that it self-aligns with the surface being sanded and is connected to the motor by a flexible drive. The abrasive surface in said sanding head is surrounded by an enclosure to catch the dust.
