  • Patent number: 10480623
Abstract: A multi-speed automatic transmission includes a housing, a transmission input shaft, and a plurality of clutches. Different combinations of a predetermined number of clutches of the plurality of clutches generate respective different gear ratios corresponding to respective forward or rearward speeds of the automatic transmission. The plurality of clutches includes a first clutch comprising a multi-plate clutch portion and a selectable one way clutch portion. The selectable one way clutch is utilized for generating one forward speed and one rearward speed of the automatic transmission.

  • Publication number: 20190344792
Abstract: Systems and methods for a vehicle automatic transmission comprising a dog clutch utilize a set of sensors configured to measure accelerator pedal position, torque generating device speed, and vehicle speed, and a controller configured to detect whether a coast downshift of the transmission to a desired gear ratio and involving the dog clutch is to be performed. In response to detecting that the coast downshift involving the dog clutch is to be performed, the controller determines whether the accelerator pedal has been depressed indicating a request for increased torque generating device speed/torque, when the accelerator pedal is depressed, performs a downshift of the transmission, while the accelerator pedal is not depressed, determines whether a synchronization point of the vehicle speed relative to the torque generating device speed has been reached and when the vehicle/torque generating device speed synchronization point has been reached, performs the downshift of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 10336331
Abstract: A vehicle includes a hydraulic control unit (HCU) having a set of electrically-actuated valves configured to open/close to accumulate a pressurized hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic apply circuit of a first clutch of a transmission; a hydraulic fluid pump mechanically driven by an engine and configured to provide the pressurized hydraulic fluid to the HCU; and a controller configured to: prior to temporarily stopping the engine, control the engine and the HCU such that the pressurized hydraulic fluid accumulates in the hydraulic apply circuit of the first clutch to a desired hydraulic fluid pressure, and upon restarting the engine, control the set of electrically-actuated valves of the HCU to provide the pressurized hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic apply circuit first clutch to a hydraulic apply circuit for a second clutch of the transmission to apply the second clutch and shift the transmission into drive.

  • Publication number: 20170193157
Abstract: Drug combinations offer promising treatment for some conditions such as cancer. However, the large number of available drug combinations makes it impractical to try all possible combinations. Machine-learning techniques described in this disclosure train a classification algorithm. Once trained, the classification algorithm uses genomic data from a specific patient to perform in silico tests of drugs and drug combinations against the genomic data to determine which therapies are likely to be effective for treating a condition of the specific patient.

  • Patent number: 9151383
Abstract: A method for interactive transmission garage shifts includes receiving a request for a transmission garage shift; controlling the transmission to bring the vehicle to a stop state based on determining that the vehicle is rolling backwards on a grade above a predetermined grade threshold and at a speed below a predetermined speed threshold; controlling an electric park brake (EPB) to hold the vehicle at the stop state; controlling the transmission to engage a dog clutch so as to place the transmission in a forward drive gear; and controlling the EPB to i) deactivate if the dog clutch is determined to be engaged, or ii) maintain activation to maintain the vehicle at the stop state if the dog clutch is determined to be disengaged.

  • Publication number: 20060036911
Abstract: A method of verifying the integrity of an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) of a control module includes inputting a first test value into one of a plurality of registers of the ALU and inputting a second test value into remaining registers of the plurality of registers. A first set of operations is performed between the one of the plurality of registers and each of the remaining registers to produce a first set of results. A fault is indicated when one of the first set of results varies from a first predetermined result.
