  • Patent number: 7505546
Abstract: A method of preventing separation of a feedwater sparger end bracket assembly comprises installing first and second clamp members of a clamp over a feedwater sparger end bracket assembly in opposition to one another, and leaving the clamp in place to constrain the feedwater sparger end bracket assembly against separation in first, second and third directions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 22, 2006
Date of Patent: March 17, 2009
    Assignee: MPR Associates, Inc.
Inventors: Patrick J. Butler, H. William McCurdy
  • Patent number: 7492851
Abstract: A constrained feedwater sparger end bracket assembly comprises a boiling water reactor vessel, a feedwater sparger including a conduit within the vessel, a feedwater sparger end bracket assembly connected to an end of the conduit at a sparger/bracket junction, and a clamp secured on the feedwater sparger end bracket assembly. The clamp constrains the feedwater sparger end bracket assembly in directions horizontal, vertical and radial to the vessel.

  • Publication number: 20070264135
Abstract: The present air compressor system includes an inlet connected to a compression stage, a cooling stage having an inlet connected to an outlet of the compression stage and having an outlet passage; a drain valve having an liquid inlet in and adjacent a bottom of the outlet passage of the cooling stage to drain condensation when opened; and a controller controlling the compression stage and the drain valve.

  • Publication number: 20060060433
Abstract: A non-pressure head for a fluid cylinder, which includes a drain channel formed in the flange by a raised portion of the flange extending from a plane of the flange in the same direction as the head portion. The channel is cold formed in the flange. For the piston stop, the flange has an opening of a diameter smaller than a diameter of a piston on the piston rod to form a stop for the piston. A plurality of spaced ribs are provided between the flange and the head. The ribs are raised portions of the flange and the head and are cold formed in the flange and the head.

  • Publication number: 20040022343
Abstract: A clamp for a feedwater sparger end bracket assembly in a boiling water reactor vessel comprises first and second clamp members disposed in opposition over a feedwater sparger end bracket assembly and a connector connecting the first and second clamp members to one another over the feedwater sparger end bracket assembly. Each clamp member has a compartment for receiving a portion of the feedwater sparger end bracket assembly, and the clamp constrains the feedwater sparger end bracket assembly against separation in first, second and third directions. Each clamp member includes shoulders and tabs which place the clamp and the feedwater sparger in equilibrium.

  • Patent number: 6178635
Abstract: A method of repairing a crack in a boiling water reactor shroud with a clamp having pins eccentrically mounted on disks connected by a structural member includes inserting the pins into openings formed in the shroud on opposite sides of the weld and turning the disks to rotate the pins toward the weld such that edges of the holes are engaged by the pins to transmit loads from the shroud to the structural member rather than the weld. A seal member is mounted in compression between a flange at an inboard end of at least one of the pins and an inner surface of the shroud to control leakage through the opening in the shroud.

  • Patent number: 5600689
Abstract: A method and apparatus for repairing nuclear reactor core shrouds includes applying vertical compressive forces to the shroud in situ to urge opposed ends of the shroud toward one another using a plurality of tie-rods, each including a plurality of coaxial longitudinal members separated by a radial gap filled with reactor coolant or some other damping fluid. One of the longitudinal members is secured to upper and lower portions of the shroud for maintaining a sufficient preload to hold the shroud together and is coupled with one or more other longitudinal members in a manner to transmit axial loads thereto upon extending a predetermined axial distance. A plurality of radial spacers can also be positioned at longitudinally spaced locations along the length of the tie-rod to assure control rod insertion by limiting lateral movement of the shroud and can reduce the preload required for preventing the formation of new cracks and stabilizing existing cracks.

  • Patent number: 4676188
Abstract: An upwardly open wallpaper wetting trough made from flexible polystyrene has a metal rod force fitted between the opposite ends of the trough and has vinyl tips fitted over the rod ends to protect the ends of the trough from puncture. An inwardly opening, outwardly extending channel is formed in each end of the trough to receive the ends of the rod in a force fit to maintain the rod in position while a sheet of wallpaper is being pulled through water in the trough guided by the rod.

  • Patent number: 4244320
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved prepasted wallpaper trough assembly having a thin walled polystyrene tray with a horizontal bar. The bar is engaged in place in the tray by forcing the ends of the bar downward into channels formed in the ends of the tray. The width of the bar is slightly larger than the width of the channels and therefore the channels resiliently engage the ends of the bar. Thus, the "memory" factor of the plastic which, when deformed attempts to return to its original shape holds the bar in place during the wallpapering operation. The assembly is simple and its shape enables it to be made extremely economically by vacuum forming.
