Publication number: 20040086466Abstract: Disclosed are methods for reducing the staining of dentifrice composition containing stannous comprising administering to a subject the dentifrice composition. The dentifrice composition is a dual phase dentifrice and is contained in physically separated compartments of a dentifrice dispenser. The first dentifrice composition comprises an effective amount of one or more linear polyphosphates having an average chain length of about 4 or more and has a total water content of up to about 20%. The second dentifrice composition comprises an effective amount of stannous ions. The molar ratio of polyphosphate anion to stannous ion is from about 0.2:1 to about 5:1 and the efficacy of the stannous ion in the dentifrice is not reduced by the polyphosphate. The dentifrice composition may alternatively be a single phase dentifrice. The single phase dentifrice will comprise an effective amount of one or more linear polyphosphates having an average chain length of about 4 or more and an effective amount of a stannous ion.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2003Publication date: May 6, 2004Applicant: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: William Michael Glandorf, Lori Ann Bacca

Publication number: 20030211051Abstract: Disclosed are compositions and methods for treating and modifying surfaces and for enhancing delivery of active agents to surfaces treated with the compositions, which comprise siloxane polymers functionalized with pendant moieties comprising anionic groups, specifically carboxylic acid groups. When applied to a suitable surface, the present composition comprising the carboxy functionalized siloxane polymers forms a substantially hydrophobic coating on the treated surface. These polymers effectively deposit on surfaces that have cationic sites, which are capable of forming bonds or linkages with the anionic groups of the polymer. The treated surface becomes hydrophobic due to the deposition of the carboxy functionalized siloxane polymer, which then imparts a variety of end use benefits to that surface such as ease of cleaning, stain removal and prevention, whitening, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2003Publication date: November 13, 2003Applicant: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Satyanarayana Majeti, Elizabeth Ann Brown Reno, Stephen Andras Kovacs, William Michael Glandorf, Philippe Olier

Publication number: 20030206874Abstract: The present invention relates to promoting whole body health in humans and animals by using topical oral compositions comprising an antimicrobial agent, in particular stannous salts, such as stannous fluoride and stannous chloride in combination with a polymeric mineral surface active agent such as condensed polyphosphates or polyphosphonates. In addition to providing a spectrum of intraoral benefits, topical administration of the present compositions to the oral cavity surprisingly provides benefits to systemic health. In particular, the present invention relates to methods of using the present topical oral compositions to reduce the risk in development of cardiovascular disease, stroke, atherosclerosis, diabetes, severe respiratory infections, premature births and low birth weight, post-partum dysfunction in neurologic and developmental functions, and associated increased risk of mortality.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 5, 2003Publication date: November 6, 2003Applicant: The Proctor & Gamble CompanyInventors: Matthew Joseph Doyle, Stephen Joseph Hunter-Rinderle, William Michael Glandorf, Donald James White
