  • Patent number: 4982360
Abstract: A memory subsystem including a read-only memory (ROM), a random access read/write memory (RAM) and a selection system for selecting the output of one of the memories for use by downstream circuitry. The selection of the output is based on input address signals so that the contents of the RAM can substitute for the contents of selected locations in the ROM. If a substitution is to be made, an entry is made in a content addressable memory, which stores addresses for which the RAM output is to be substituted for ROM output. A test system is provided to verify the contents of the content addressable memory.

  • Patent number: 4894889
Abstract: A tensioning and securing device for a lashing system comprises a U-shaped member (10), for engagement with first lashing elements (24) and a cross-member (16) having holes through which the legs of member (10) extend and which can slide up and down the legs of member (10), the member (16) having hooks at its ends for attachment of second lashing elements (25). The ends of the legs of the member (10) carry a formation or formations (20, 34) for supporting the neck of a removable jack (26) by which the cross member (16) may be jacked towards the loop end of the U-shaped member (10) to tension the lashing. Securing elements (18) on the cross member (16) or on the legs of member (10) allow the cross member (16) to be locked in place, then the jack may be collapsed and removed.

  • Patent number: 4510704
Abstract: A boot or shoe incorporating means (12) for detecting when a step is made, and means (5) for recording and displaying the total of the steps so recorded. The means (5) may be a mechanical counter and may be operated by a push button (11) mounted in the heel of the shoe. Alternatively the counter may be an electronic counter. In either case, the counter may be operated by an inertially operated mechanism. Where electronic counting means is used, the boot or shoe may incorporate a micro-processor and may be arranged to display, at will, such quantities as total number of steps made distance walked, means speed, etc., and may even be associated with pulse rate or blood pressure sensing means whereby these quantities may also be displayed.

  • Patent number: 4508701
Abstract: A spent or scrap tungsten-containing, aluminosilicate catalyst material is blended with a silicate-containing, tungsten-bearing ore concentrate in amounts such that at least about 2.0% by weight of the total tungsten values in the mixture are present in the catalyst material, and then digested with an alkaline solution, e.g., sodium carbonate, under pressure and at an elevated temperature for a period of time sufficient to extract substantially all of the tungsten values from the mixture components. The presence of the catalyst material substantially suppresses the dissolution of silica in the leach liquor.
