  • Publication number: 20070156909
Abstract: A SMS/MMS Proxy maintains SIP user identities in an IMS network on behalf of SMS capable mobile terminals to give legacy mobile terminals a presence in the IMS network. The SMS/MMS Proxy includes an application server to translate text messages received from a mobile terminal via a gateway into SIP transactions and uses the SIP user identities allocated to said mobile terminals to conduct SIP transactions on their behalf.

  • Publication number: 20060239251
Abstract: A SIP client for a communication device includes a user agent to communicate with a user application in the communication device. The user agent provides a high-level application interface to the user application and translates user commands into corresponding signaling and media operations. The same user agent may be shared by a plurality of user applications. A signaling agent controlled by the user agent performs signaling operations necessary to establish and maintain communication sessions. To avoid signaling overhead on a high cost network, the SIP client can be located in a remote network so signaling messages do not need to traverse the high cost network.

  • Publication number: 20060139099
Abstract: A system and method of optimizing the output power of a power amplifier to maintain satisfactory RF response under varying power amplifier operating conditions. The operating conditions include operating temperature, supply voltage, and operating frequency. Existing sensors monitor the aforementioned operating conditions. An application within the wireless device containing the power amplifier continuously or periodically logs the current operating conditions and finds them in a look-up table stored internally. The look-up table is comprised of empirically derived maximum sustainable power output levels for each operating condition. Once the current operating conditions are matched to a set in the table, current power amplifier power output is reset, if necessary, to the maximum sustainable power output defined in the table.

  • Patent number: 6521590
Abstract: Biocidal proteins capable of isolation from seeds have been characterized. The proteins have an amino acid sequence containing the common cysteine/glycine domain of Chitin-binding Plant Proteins but show substantially better activity against pathogenic fungi, a higher ratio of basic amino acids to acidic amino acids, and/or antifungal activity which results in increased hyphal branching. Antimicrobial proteins isolated from Amaranthus, Capsicum, Briza and related species are provided. The proteins show a wide range of antifungal activity and are active against Gram-positive bacteria. DNA encoding the proteins may be isolated and incorporated into vectors. Plants may be transformed with this DNA. The proteins find agricultural or pharmaceutical application as antifungal or antibacterial agents. Transgenic plants expressing the protein will show increased disease resistance.

  • Patent number: 6150588
Abstract: Antimicrobial proteins are isolated from seeds of Impatiens, and show a wide range of antifungal activity and some antibacterial activity. DNA encoding the proteins is isolated and incorporated into vectors. Plants transformed with this DNA are produced. The invention further provides a method of expressing polyproteins in transgenic plants using DNA constructs based on the structure of the gene encoding the Impatiens antimicrobial proteins.
