  • Patent number: 5555570
Abstract: A method of removably attaching a bicycle helmet face shield to a bicycle helmet includes the steps of selecting a bicycle helmet and a bicycle helmet transparent shield having a plurality of openings therein and selecting a resilient shield attaching member having a plurality of elongated slots formed therein. One slot in the resilient shield attaching member may be placed at an angle to a second slot or an angled back may be provided the shield attaching member to adjust the shield angle in front of the biker's face. The selected resilient shield is adhesively attached to the bicycle helmet and the shield is attached in one of the elongated slots. A bicycle helmet face shield apparatus includes the face shield attaching member having a plurality of slots formed in a resilient material and having one of the slots placed parallel to the second slot and having a transparent face shield removably attached in one or the other slots of the face shield attaching member attached to a bicycle helmet.

  • Patent number: 5347452
Abstract: A method for displaying market trading volume in selected commodities for developing a priori knowledge of price trends from abnormal trading volume comprises a graph including a first set of sequential markers. Each first marker corresponds to a preselected time interval and has an amplitude representing average volume of trades of a predetermined item during a preselected time interval taken over a predetermined number of the preselected time intervals. The method further comprises generating a set of second markers substantially concurrently in time with the corresponding first markers and which are positioned on the graph in proximity to the corresponding first markers. Each second marker has an amplitude representing the volume of trades in the preselected item during the most recent preselected time intervals with the difference in amplitude indicative of trade volume deviation from average trade volume.

  • Patent number: 4495657
Abstract: A snap on shield for a helmet is formed with a transparent surface of a predetermined shape to fit onto a helmet to protect the face of a wearer. The shield is injection molded of a polymer material having a molded female center snap portion for engaging a male snap portion on a helmet and a female polymer snap portion formed on each side of the shield. Each snap portion is an elongated snap portion that allows the male snap portion to be snapped in at any position along the elongated female snap portions. The helmet shield can be fitted to different helmets having male fastener portions in different positions. Each elongated polymer snap fastener portion has an elongated groove formed in the shield and has an elongated lip formed along each elongated edge of each groove and protruding over a portion of the groove.

  • Patent number: 4475254
Abstract: A visor attachment for a helmet shield includes a flexible polymer visor shaped to be attached to one edge portion of a helmet shield. The visor has a visor bill portion and a support portion. The support portion has an arcuate support portion shaped to follow the contour of a shield when flexed thereabout. Several techniques are provided for attaching the visor support portion to the edge portion of the helmet shield in a manner to support the visor even under great stress, so that a shield is converted to a shield and visor combination.

  • Patent number: 4333180
Abstract: A visor apparatus for attachment to a helmet having snap portions thereon. The visor has a visor support portion and a visor bill portions integral therewith and protruding from the support portion. The visor support portion is curved to fit adjacent the helmet and has a plurality of generally U-shaped slots formed therein to form a plurality of resilient tabs. Each resilient tab has a snap portion attached thereto to thereby allow resilience to each mounted snap portion. Each snap portion may be reinforced by having a greater thickness than in the visor bill and each snap mounted therein may be mounted in an elongated slot. The visor support portion has a pair of end snaps mounted in horizontally elongated slots for adjustment to the helmet.

  • Patent number: 4117553
Abstract: A shield and visor combination for snapping onto a helmet includes a visor attachable to a helmet and a shield rotatably attached to the visor and having a center snap for holding the shield in position to cover the face of the wearer. The shield is attached to the visor with a pair of plastic studs each having annular surfaces and an opening in the stud to allow the stud to be compressed against the opening to insert the stud into an opening in the visor. The angled surface then holds the visor in place on the shield, but allows the shield to be rotated or lifted on the visor. The lifted shield will maintain its position by the pressure put against the angled surface of the studs by the shield's bias away from the visor and by a wedging action of the shield against a portion of the visor when the shield is lifted. The shield is a molded polymer having molded support studs, center snap and molded studs for racing peel-off strips.

  • Patent number: 4097930
Abstract: A snap-on shield for a helmet is formed having a flat, transparent surface which can be shaped to fit onto a helmet, or a molded pre-curved surface, to protect the face of a wearer. The shield is injection-molded of a polymer material having a molded female center snap portion for engaging a male snap portion on the helmet and a pair of groups of female polymer snaps are molded for one snap portion to engage each male ear stud snap on the helmet. Each group of female snap portions is positioned so that one snap portion fits the ear stud male snap portion of at least one helmet. The shield may also have additional male snap portions molded therein for engaging female snaps on a visor. The face shield with snap fastener portions is molded in one piece to fit a large variety of helmets having variations in the positioning of the helmet snap fastener portions thereon.
