  • Patent number: 8530249
Abstract: In one implementation, a chamber is selected that accommodates an array of die structures that comprises one or more cavities. An inner chamber of the chamber is maintained at a first temperature. An alkali metal source of the chamber is maintained at a second temperature greater than the first temperature. An outer chamber of the chamber is maintained at a third temperature greater than the first temperature and the second temperature. The one or more cavities of the array of die structures are filled with a portion of the alkali metal source. The one or more cavities of the array of die structures are sealed to comprise the portion of the alkali metal source.

  • Patent number: 6357068
Abstract: A combination tool includes a tool head having a jaw mechanism with two jaws lying in a tool head plane. A first handle is pivotably attached to the jaw mechanism and rotatable in a first direction about a first pivot axle lying in the tool head plane, between a nested position wherein the first handle lies coplanar with and adjacent to the jaw mechanism and a deployed position wherein the first handle is coplanar with and remote from the jaw mechanism. A second handle is pivotably attached to the jaw mechanism and rotatable in a second direction, opposite to the first direction, about a second pivot axle lying in the tool head plane, between a nested position wherein the second handle lies coplanar with and adjacent to the jaw mechanism and a deployed position wherein the second handle is coplanar with and remote from the jaw mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5748565
Abstract: A flexible interlink for joining a first sensor of the type that includes a cylindrical mandrel for mounting a common optical fiber to a second sensor of a hydrophone that includes a cylindrical mandrel for mounting said fiber. The interlink includes an integral molded body of flexible material. Enlarged diameter ends are joined to the link by outwardly-tapered transition members. Resilient metal washers are fixed to the ends for locking onto the sensor. The washer includes radial elements that abut corresponding radial elements of the end. The radial elements of the washer are outwardly inclined, of greater length than the corresponding radial elements of the end and exceed the inner diameter of the sensor from tip to tip.

  • Patent number: 5529671
Abstract: The invention uses an ion beam to polish a rotatable substrate from an oblique angle between the horizontal and the center line of the gun to the substrate to upgrade the quality of substrates. Alternatively, the substrates are left in the high vacuum chamber without breaking the vacuum for in-situ deposition of thin films thereby avoiding contamination, and to provide premium optics. A wobble stick arrangement is provided to align the ellipsometer reflected beam with the ellipsometer detector during operation without breaking the vacuum which, if broken, would admit contamination.

  • Patent number: 5514167
Abstract: An electrical human skin treatment apparatus which comprises a housing within which is incorporated an electrical circuit. The housing includes a pair of terminals which are spaced apart. The user's hand must be in contact with one terminal with the other terminal to be in contact with the area of application such as the face or neck of the user. The electrical circuit includes a slow voltage current rise to minimize the possibility of electrical shock to the user. A switch is incorporated on the exterior of the housing to not only activate the apparatus, but also to select anaphoresis or cataphoresis.

  • Patent number: 4450407
Abstract: There is disclosed a magnetic alignment device and method for its fabrication in which the aligned magnetic moments of a gas enclosed within a container have an increased relaxation time, hence an increase signal to noise output. One embodiment is a nuclear magnetic resonance gyroscope including a container for gas having a layer of rubidium hydride on its inner surface. Enclosed within the container is rubidium vapor and xenon-131 gas.The layer of rubidium hydride is manufactured by reacting hydrogen gas and rubidium at a temperature between approximately 70.degree. and about 250.degree. C. In one specific method, a layer of rubidium hydride is formed by heating rubidium and hydrogen gas at about 85.degree. for about 7 days.
