  • Patent number: 7908920
Abstract: An apparatus for determining a level of a liquid in a tank is provided. The apparatus comprises a probe and electronics. The probe passes into the tank and is immersed in the liquid. The probe includes a fiducial in spaced relation with a distal end. The electronics are operably coupled to the probe. The electronics include a signal generator propagating a signal along the probe and a signal receiver receiving the signal propagated along the probe. The electronics determine a velocity of propagation and/or an amount of time for the signal to travel between the fiducial and the distal end. The level of the liquid in the tank is then determined using the velocity of propagation and/or amount of time.

  • Patent number: 6994305
Abstract: Provided is a magnet mounting assembly including a ferromagnetic support plate having a periphery, two opposite faces, and a ferromagnetic plate extension depending from the periphery, and a permanent magnet disposed on the support plate, in which the plate extension has a plurality of heights forming a plurality of legs. A terminal edge of the legs is engagable with a rounded magnetic surface at four non-contiguous locations thereon. The plate extension may form a V-block. Also provided are methods of utilizing such a magnet mounting assembly to securely and stably attach a device, such as a measurement device, to a rounded ferromagnetic surface, such as the exterior surface of a storage tank. A measurement device/storage tank assembly including such a magnet mounting assembly is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6742396
Abstract: A dial indicator, method, and kit for upgrading a dial indicator to provide both local visible and remote indication of a measured physical parameter is provided. A magnetic rotary pointer is provided by coupling a magnet to a pointer, or by providing a replacement pointer having an integral magnet, so that the magnetic rotary pointer is rotatable in response to a change a measured physical parameter. A potentiometer is magnetically coupled to the magnetic rotary pointer, and is fastened to a front side of the dial indicator.

  • Patent number: 6227264
Abstract: An adapter is provided for facillating simultaneous level-monitoring and filling of a vessel through a single vessel aperture. The adapter also reduces backflow that may occur during the filling process. The adapter comprises an aperture engagement end which is adapted to couple with the aperture of a vessel. The adapter also includes a plurality of inlets, pathways and outlets. A first pathway is substantially straight and is adapted to receive a level-monitoring devices easily couple with this first pathway. The adapter also comprises a second pathway which is free from fluid communication with the other pathway. This discrete second pathway is used for filling the vessel with minimal fluid backflow. This discrete second pathway also protects the level-monitoring device from possible damage.
