  • Patent number: 4367895
Abstract: A chair has a chair body pivoted on a carriage and a reclining back on the chair body operates linkage to move the carriage on a base and to tilt the chair body with respect to the carriage. A hand lever operates a leg rest mounted on the chair body and, at the same time, operates through linkage to tilt the chair body on the carriage.

  • Patent number: 4179157
Abstract: A reclinable chair is rockable on a sub-frame which is movable forwardly and rearwardly on a base. The chair and sub-frame are supported on the base on a pair of facing channels which slope downwardly from the rear to the front of the base. The sub-frame and base are locked together in the rear and forward positions, the lock at the rear being released when the activating handle for the legrest at the righthand side of the chair is raised 10 or 15.degree.. The further movement of the handle extends the legrest forwardly of the seat. The weight of the occupant when seated in the chair assists in the movement of the chair to the forward position during which the downward movement of a Boden wire secured to the sprung surface of the seat or to a lever pivoted thereon releases the actuating element. The wire operates the element and unlatches the chair when in forward position as the occupant leaves the chair seat or operates the lever and permits a spring to return the chair to its rear latched position.

The chair and frame are supported on the base on a pair of facing channels which slope downwardly from the rear to the front of the base. The frame and base are locked together in the rear and forward positions, the lock at the rear being released when the activating handle for the legrest at the side of the chair is raised 10.degree. or 15.degree.. The further movement of the handle extends the legrest forwardly of the seat. The seating of the occupant in the chair assists in the movement of the chair to the forward position during which a spring between the frame and base is tensioned for returning the chair to the rear position when the occupant leaves the seat and permits the springs of the seat to move upwardly and release the front latch. A lever prevents the rocking of the chair until it reaches the forward position where it is stopped in its forward movement to release the chair for rocking.

  • Patent number: 4153292
Abstract: A reclining chair that is disposable adjacent a wall and can recline at the wall. The chair includes a chair frame, a back frame, a seat frame, a platform, and first and second link assemblies. The first link assembly connects the back frame to the seat frame and the chair frame on both sides permitting the back frame to recline and the seat frame to move relative to the back frame forwardly and upwardly. The second link assembly has arms connected to the first link assembly for moving the back, seat and chair frames simultaneously forwardly on the platform a predetermined distance of forward movement along with the arms of the second link assembly, so that the arms of the second link assembly move the same distance forwardly plus an additional distance forwardly as the back frame is being reclined.

  • Patent number: 4104745
Abstract: A sofa bed frame has a storage area in the bottom below the front board which receives the folded sections of the bed unit when containing a mattress which is folded within the sections. A rear TV section is pivoted to a rear bottom section which is pivoted to a vertical intermediate section which has a front top section pivoted thereto. When the four sections are open, they extend above the front sofa board and are in planar relation to each other with the TV rear head section operable to be raised to an approximate 45.degree. angle at which an occupant can view television, read a book or the like. The television rear head section has a pair of links which move into aligned relation when the sections are being folded to raise the TV rear head section to an approximate 90.degree. position so that it may be advanced into the area of the back to require a minimum of storage space below the sealing position of the sofa bed.
