    Abstract: Insulation spacer devices, methods and related construction techniques are provided. An exemplary device may include a body having a plurality of openings defining an openwork, to allow the passage of air therethrough when placed in contact with insulation material. The device may further include a plurality of spacer struts and/or spacing depressions fixedly attached to the body. The struts may be configured to maintain a predetermined distance between a first side of the insulation material and a building surface. The body and struts act together to define and maintain a space between the first side of the insulation material and the building surface, for example, for ventilation. The building surface can be the bottom face of a roof, an insulated attic floor, wall sheathing or a soundproofed demising wall, for example. The spacer device can be capable of being transported and stored together with, or as a separate item from, the insulation material, and can also be stored in nested layers.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides various pumps and compressors for energizing fluids. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, pumps are provided for compressing hydrogen gas produced by electrolysis at a first location. The pump includes a bore with a piston disposed in the bore, and a magnetic drive external to the bore. The piston is moved through the bore to compress the fluid using permanent magnets or electromagnets. Using the disclosed embodiments, hydrogen compressed at a first location can be directed to a second location, such as a power plant or a fueling station.

Methods for controlling a food service product heating system involve providing a heating element configured to heat a food service product in a heating area. Motion of the food service product is detected within the heating area. An aspect of the heating element, such as power level, ON/OFF condition, number of active elements, or other aspect, is controlled in response to the detected motion.

    Abstract: Iodine-containing germicidal preparations are provided with assured control of the content of equilibrium iodine in aqueous solution to be between 1 and 20 ppm, preferably 2-15 ppm so as to provide predetermined germicidal activity. The invention further comprises the determination of the content of equilibrium iodine in an aqueous iodophor solution by subjecting such solution to several extractions with different amounts of a water immiscible solvent for iodine, determining the concentrations of the equilibrium iodine in each of the amounts of the water immiscible solvent and extrapolating the concentration to a theoretical zero value which is a measure of the equilibrium iodine in the aqueous iodophor solution. The invention further comprises improved germicidal iodophor compositions comprising an iodophor, citric acid and iodate.

    Abstract: A fuel cell stack which can be operated with cells in a horizontal position so that the fuel cell stack does not have to be taken out of operation when adding an electrolyte such as an acid. Acid is supplied to each matrix in a stack of fuel cells at a uniform, low pressure so that the matrix can either be filled initially or replenished with acid lost in operation of the cell, without exceeding the bubble pressure of the matrix or the flooding pressure of the electrodes on either side of the matrix. Acid control to each cell is achieved by restricting and offsetting the opening of electrolyte fill holes in the matrix relative to openings in the plates which sandwich the matrix and electrodes therebetween.
