    Abstract: Flap assembly for an opening in a motor vehicle's contour, having a flap frame fixed to the vehicle in a ready-to-operate installed state. The flap frame defines an opening that is closable or openable by a flap that is positively guided on a guide system connected to the flap frame between a closed position and an open position. The flap is provided with rearward projecting support arms that are guided in a linearly mobile manner in linear guide tracks of the guide system. The linear guide tracks are arranged such that, on movement from the closed position, the flap is first tilted about a transverse axis and then pivoted upward in the vertical direction and into the opening.

The guided displacement of the cover element between the closed and open positions includes reciprocating movement and longitudinal movements. The closure arrangement has a drive device operatively connected to the cover element and drives same between the closed and open positions. The drive device has a drive rod element acting axially indirectly on the cover element so as to transmit pulling and pushing forces. The cover element is displaceable between the closed and the open positions by an axial drive movement of the drive rod element with reciprocating and longitudinal movement.

    Abstract: A retractable cover system includes a frame that includes laterally spaced apart guide rails. A flexible cover is slidably supported with respect to the guide rails. The cover has laterally opposing end portions each with an end that is arranged over and overlaps a respective one of the guide rails to provide an outer seal. In one embodiment, a flap is secured to the cover near each of the ends. Each flap is configured to retain its respective end portion to its respective guide rail.
