Patent number: 5548995Abstract: A VRS sensor detects the angular rotation of a variable position camshaft which rotates in a variable relationship to a crankshaft, and transmits a Variable Cam Timing/Cylinder IDentification signal, representative of the position of the angular rotation of the camshaft, to an electronic engine controller (EEC). A profile ignition pickup (PIP) sensor detects the rotation of the crankshaft and transmits a PIP signal, representative of the rotation of the crankshaft to the EEC. The EEC receives the VCT/CID signal and the PIP signal and identifies the position of a first firing cylinder in a predetermined sequence of cylinder firing and determines the angular position of the camshaft in relation to the crankshaft by detecting the varying time duration between VCT/CID signals and PIP signals.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1993Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Assignee: Ford Motor CompanyInventors: Eric L. Patent number: 5032521Abstract: Hybridomas are provided which secrete an IgG1 or IgG2 monoclonal antibody which binds to an epitope on an antigen, which occurs in the plasma membrane of MCF-7 cells and has a molecular weight of 22 kD. The epitope of the antibodies is exposed on the extracellular side of the plasma membrane of the MCF-7 cells. The monoclonal antibodies, which react generally with human mammary carcinoma cells, but with few non-mammary cancer cells, are useful diagnostically and therapeutically.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1987Date of Patent: July 16, 1991Assignee: The Salk Institute for Biological StudiesInventors: Christine A. Patent number: 4805814Abstract: A container for liquids comprises a bottle having a continuous peripheral wall, a spout and an auxiliary mounting portion. The spout is threaded, in the preferred embodiment, so that a threaded cap or dispensing apparatus may be removably engaged thereon. The auxiliary mounting portion includes a pad on the top wall of the bottle having a mounting boss projecting from the pad. The mounting boss is threaded or serrated so that either the threaded cap or the dispensing apparatus can be removably engaged on the mounting boss when the other of the cap or dispensing apparatus is mounted on the bottle spout. The dispensing apparatus can comprise a spray head having a siphon tube that is detachable from the spray head. The bottle can be provided with a generally vertical groove in the peripheral wall of the bottle. The groove is sized to accommodate the siphon tube when the spray head is mounted on the mounting boss of the auxiliary mounting portion.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1987Date of Patent: February 21, 1989Assignee: National Products DivisionInventor: William R. Allen, Sr.

Patent number: 4453274Abstract: An upper-body garment, such as an athletic jersey, has a facility whereby its characteristic color may be changed so that a wearer while participating in a team sport may switch teams without having to change jerseys. The garment has an inner shell and an outer shell. The outer shell comprises front and rear panels having one color on the outside and another color on the inside which is the same as the color of the inner shell. The panels may be attached together over the shoulders when the one color is to be exposed, and the panels may be detached so as to hang down from a midriff section of the garment when the other color is to be exposed.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1983Date of Patent: June 12, 1984Inventor: William R. Patent number: 4160715Abstract: An improved lining for an electrolytic furnace for producing aluminum is disclosed having sufficient thickness that heat flow therethrough is such that an insulative coating provided on the inside surface of a perimetric metal shell around the electrolytic furnace is not exposed to temperatures above an upper temperature limit at which the coating is impenetrable by molten salt. Such improved lining includes an inner layer of high-fired refractory, penetrable by the molten salt and resistant to chemical corrosion by such penetration. The inner layer is of sufficient thickness that a salt freeze line is located therein. Within the inner layer and outside the freeze line is a layer of material impenetrable by molten aluminum. In at least the bottom portion of the furnace and outside the inner layer is at least one layer of glass refractory impermeable to the molten salt.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1978Date of Patent: July 10, 1979Assignee: Aluminum Company of AmericaInventors: Donald L. Patent number: 4140594Abstract: A method for producing metal by electrolysis in a molten salt bath containing superimposed electrodes, at least one of which is a bipolar electrode. The arrangement of the electrodes creates interelectrode spaces between them. Bath is swept through these interelectrode spaces. This method is improved by providing circulation of the bath from one interelectrode space to the next at a location inwards of the outer peripheries of the electrodes. This can be accomplished e.g. by boring holes through the electrodes. It can also be accomplished by breaking the electrodes into individual, mutually separated stacks of electrodes, the circulation of the improvement then occurring e.g. in the space between the stacks.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1977Date of Patent: February 20, 1979Assignee: Aluminum Company of AmericaInventors: Elmer H. Rogers, Jr., Stanley C. Jacobs, Lester L. Knapp, William R. Allen

Patent number: 3968276Abstract: A process for the treatment of wood of all kinds to impregnate the wood fully to its core with a resin component system, simultaneously with, or without, a flame retarding agent, or preservative, the process involving enclosing the wood in a chamber, evacuating the chamber in which it is enclosed in a slow time cycle, related to the structure of the wood, while adding a prepolymer aqueous solution to submerge the wood, continuing the vacuum, securing the vacuum, and applying pressure of prepolymer solution until the wood reaches the refusal point and, in certain more dense woods, repeating the vacuum and pressure cycle; then completely purging the chemicals, evacuating the chamber and drawing a final vacuum on the wood for removal of surface liquid, and finally removing wood from the chamber.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1974Date of Patent: July 6, 1976Assignee: Diversified Wood Products, Inc.Inventor: William R.
