  • Patent number: 5268138
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for embossing a fold line onto a plastic sheet by first heating the plastic above its softening point and then embossing the material by passing it between a knurled flat roller and a cooperating embossing roller having a series of ridges suitable for embossing the fold line.

  • Patent number: 5183672
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for making a substantially rigid plastic material having at least one fold line pattern with a series of generally parallel grooves, wherein preferably groove depth increases from the outside to the middle of the pattern. The apparatus includes a frame, a conveyor system for moving the plastic material along a linear path, a feeder situated at an upstream end of the conveyor system and adapted to position the plastic material on the conveyor system, a heater situated downstream of the feeder adapted to heat the area to be embossed with the fold line pattern to a temperature sufficient to form the fold line pattern, and an embosser having a knurled flat roller and a cooperating embossing roller having a series of ridges suitable for embossing the fold pattern.

  • Patent number: 4573532
Abstract: Disclosed is a Jacquard control system for controlling fluid flow within an apparatus such as a downhole tool. Such Jacquard control system includes at least one control member having a plurality of holes therethrough, the holes being arranged in a plurality of patterns cooperable with fluid passageways within the downhole tool. Each pattern of holes permits fluid flow within the downhole tool to carry out a desired function. Also included is a device to selectively adjust the position of the at least one control member relative to the fluid passageways to permit the fluid flow to carry out the desired functions. A downhole fluid sampler and tester is disclosed which includes a Jacquard control system, for withdrawing fluid from a subterranean formation; determining at least one property of the withdrawn fluid, such as EH, pH, temperature, pressure and resistivity, and, if desired, obtaining a sample of the withdrawn fluid.

  • Patent number: 3977534
Abstract: For transporting and indexing panel wall sections, a wheeled base chassis supports a lateral movable plate, in turn carrying three separate frames for performing the various orienting functions. The innermost frame is pivotally carried by the lateral plate to permit all three frames and the panel load to be tilted rearwardly over the chassis for transport. This frame carries the middle frame to permit it to be driven vertically relative to the innermost frame for fitting the panel into position, as a first portion of the wall or a continuing portion. The middle frame carries the outer frame with it and also mounts it for 45.degree. motion relative to the middle frame to remove the panel from its aligned or home position for the application of adhesive, with the machine returning it exactly for final bonding, the chassis being leveled or tilted by opposed levelers extendable against the floor.
