  • Patent number: 5474107
Abstract: A fail open three-way solenoid actuated valve is disclosed including a body having an internal chamber including an inlet section and first and second outlet sections, a first valve seat formed in the internal chamber defining a valve port between the inlet section and the first outlet section of the internal chamber, a second valve seat formed in the internal chamber defining a second valve port between the inlet section and the second outlet section of the internal chamber and a valve spool extending through the first valve port of the internal chamber, the valve spool having a stem slidably received in a central bore formed in the body.

  • Patent number: 5413308
Abstract: A spring biased normally open solenoid actuated valve includes a valve body having a valve seat defining a valve port, located between an inlet port and an outlet port, that is controlled by a spool. When the solenoid is de-energized, the valve spool is biased open by a compression spring. The valve spool may include a double seal assembly expanding the range of operating pressures for a given spring force. The double seal assembly includes a rod having first and second ends with the first end secured to a stem of the spool. A retainer including a first sealing surface is secured to the second end of the rod. A sealing member, longitudinally moveable along the rod, is concentrically located on the rod adjacent the retainer and includes an inner valve seat and a second sealing surface such that the first sealing surface contacts the inner valve seat and the second sealing surface contacts the valve port when the solenoid is energized thus closing the valve.

  • Patent number: 4796857
Abstract: A high performance butterfly valve utilizing a thin sheet metal annulus to provide sealing between a valve casing and a rotary disc type valving member. The design of the sealing element provides for a self-sealing at all pressures, with augmentation of the sealing action as a result of applied pressure differential. As maximum stresses in the thin metal sealing element are approached, the element becomes supported at an intermediate region, enabling effective performance at both low and high pressure limits.

  • Patent number: 4676481
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a high performance, leak tight seal for use primarily in butterfly control valves. In accordance with a significant feature of the invention, the seal is arranged and configured whereby fluid pressure within the butterfly valve environment is retained by the seal through three clearly defined, discrete pressure range operating stages. The seal is mounted within a seal containment chamber formed in the valve housing. The fluid pressure inherently and automatically orients the seal relative to the seal containment chamber to provide a seal geometry, containment chamber support, stress distribution and seal deflection which is optimum for the pressure range of the particular operating mode.

  • Patent number: 4108825
Abstract: A silicone composition cures to a flame retardant silicone elastomer by heating. The composition contains 100 parts by weight of vinyl-containing polydiorganosiloxane fluid with a viscosity of 0.2 to 30 Pa s at 25.degree. C., an organohydrogensiloxane in an amount sufficient to provide from 1.2 to 3 silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms for every silicon-bonded vinyl group in the composition, from 5 to 100 parts by weight of reinforcing silica filler, a platinum catalyst providing at least 1 part by weight of platinum for every one million parts by weight of polydiorganosiloxane fluid, and from 0.1 to 3 parts of ceric hydrate. The flame retardant silicone composition is useful for potting, encapsulating, molding and extruding processes.
