  • Publication number: 20240133120
Abstract: Processes for imparting oil and grease resistance to paper products. In some embodiments, the process can include combining a plurality of fibers and water to produce a slurry; forming the slurry into a wet web; pressing and draining the wet web to produce a wet sheet; and drying the wet sheet to produce a dried sheet. A sizing composition and a barrier compound can independently be applied to at least one of the slurry, the wet web, the wet sheet, and the dried sheet. The sizing composition can include one or more alkenyl succinic anhydride compounds. The barrier compound can include a polyolefin dispersion, a styrene acrylate emulsion, a sucrose ester, a modified starch, styrene maleic anhydride, an ethylene acrylic acid dispersion, a styrene acrylic acid, a polyvinyl alcohol, an ethylene vinyl alcohol, or a mixture thereof. The dried sheet can have an average KIT Value of at least 3.

  • Publication number: 20230392377
Abstract: Structures including a curved corrugated wall fabricated from a plurality of layers formed of one or more shaped strips and methods of forming the structures are described. A shaped strip used in the fabrication includes a variable profile across the width of the strip with a first edge of a strip defining a series of cell profiles of a first geometric shape and a second, opposite edge of the strip defining a series of cell profiles of a second, different geometric shape, with each cell transitioning from the first profile to the second profile across the width of the strip. The geometry of the cell profiles at either end of each cell can be designed with respect to one another to allow for radial orientation of the strip about an axis with little or no deformation or stress on the strip edges.

  • Publication number: 20230057265
Abstract: In one aspect, a compact augmented permeation system (CAPS) assembly includes a housing defining an interior cavity. The housing further defines a gas inlet for receiving gas within the interior cavity and a gas outlet for expelling the gas from the interior cavity. Additionally, the CAPS assembly includes a gas-permeable membrane positioned within the housing and defining a system boundary across the interior cavity such that gas received within the interior cavity via the gas inlet permeates through the gas-permeable membrane before being expelled from the interior cavity via the gas outlet.

  • Publication number: 20190026256
Abstract: A system and method for web browsing contemporaneously displays multiple web pages, advertisements, or other applications, preferably within a single window, for a user to view. In a preferred embodiment, a current web page, a past web page, a future web page, and/or an advertisement or other application are contemporaneously displayed in a single window. In this embodiment, the present invention tracks a past web page and renders it in a first panel, renders the current web page in a second panel, and identifies a hyperlink in the current web page to retrieve and render the future web page in a third panel. In other embodiments, a host provides a list of web pages that are to be displayed in the panels. In other embodiments, a user selects a list of web pages that are to be displayed in the panels. In other embodiments, hyperlinks are filtered and/or prioritized to determine which web pages are to be displayed in the panels.

  • Patent number: 9751484
Abstract: A protective device such as a seat or helmet contains impact attenuating fluid (e.g., CO2, Air or Water) containing cells, sensors and electrically actuated exhaust valves for cushioning impact and decelerating a user (e.g., the contacting body part of the user) after an impact. Accelerometers and a pressure sensor supply signals to a microcontroller, which opens an exhaust valve if accelerations (or pressure) exceed a threshold. Expelling fluid provides a cushioning and damping effect, decelerating the wearer's head. Acceleration data, fluid pressure data and GPS position data may be wirelessly communicated to a monitor computer system.

  • Patent number: 9521695
Abstract: A probe request from a wireless station can cause the access point to contact a roaming enablement service and alter the services accessible through the access point. The roaming enablement service can identify preferred services of the wireless station and mediate automated negotiations between the access point and a service provider to determine whether the access point may provide a service from the service provider. Upon successful negotiations, the brokerage service can enable the access point to provide access to the preferred services.
