  • Patent number: 7891100
Abstract: A system for opening encased articles has a cutting apparatus that includes a channel formed from spaced-apart parallel walls. A cutting member having a cutting edge extends from one wall into the channel. A protrusion disposed in the channel at least partially overlaps and at least partially obstructs the cutting member. The channel is adapted for receiving the flanged edge of the article and the protrusion is displaceable to expose the cutting edge of the cutting member. A system further has the cutting apparatus juxtaposed with a container for storing at least one encased article.

  • Patent number: 5927595
Abstract: A multi-use envelope for at least two mailings comprises opposed front and rear panels foldably connected together at their bottom edges and secured together at their side edges by side closure flaps to form an envelope structure. The improvement comprises a pair of closure flaps foldably attached respectively to the top edges of each of the front and rear panels wherein each closure flap has an independent means for sealing and opening the envelope. A first closure flap is folded inside the envelope for the first mailing while the other closure flap is used to close the envelope. Upon receipt, the first closure flap is folded outside the envelope for use in closing the envelope for the second mailing.

  • Patent number: 5358176
Abstract: A tearstrip opening for the closure flap of a paperboard container is formed by a single line of tear and an adjacent delamination area located within the closure flap. The tearstrip is applied to one or more of the closure flaps of the container as required. The tearstrip is removed by the combined action of separation of the paperboard along perforations which define the single line of tear and ply separation of the paperboard adjacent to a partial depth cut line of weakness spaced from the single line of tear. When removed, the tear strip releases the closure flap from a side wall of the container while leaving a portion of the closure flap still attached to the side wall.

  • Patent number: 5122399
Abstract: A bottle type container is fabricated by blow molding a continuous wall liner of thermoplastic polymer integrally to the interior wall surface of an oppositely matched pair of paperboard cladding jackets. Paperboard cladding jackets respective to each pair are joined substantially edge-to-edge along the meeting seam exclusively by the continuous liner wall lap. For container stability when resting on a flat surface, at least one folded ridge is formed in the bottom edge panel of both jackets.

  • Patent number: 4889631
Abstract: A porous anodic aluminum oxide membrane, at least one surface of which is profiled on a scale of 0.01 to 50 mm, may be made by profiling a surface of an aluminium metal substrate anodizing the substrate to form a porous membrane on the surface and separating the membrane from the substrate. The profiling may consist of a system of parallel ribs and troughs.
