  • Publication number: 20070092391
Abstract: A horizontal scroll-type compressor utilizes the pressure differential between the discharge pressure and the suction pressure to route lubricant from the discharge chamber to the components within the intake chamber. The compressor may utilize a lubricant separator within the discharge chamber to separate the working fluid from the lubricant prior to the working fluid exiting the compressor. The compressor may use an internal passageway that extends from the discharge chamber to a position adjacent the crankshaft to provide lubricant to the internal lubricant passage within the crankshaft.

  • Publication number: 20060133944
Abstract: A scroll machine is powered by a brushless permanent magnet motor. The rotor for the motor includes a rotor body formed by a plurality of laminations and an upper and lower counterweight made of zinc and located at opposite ends of the rotor body. An attachment member extends through the counterweights and the rotor body to secure the counterweights and the plurality of laminations. The counterweights include steel inserts which cooperate with the attachment member to provide a metal to metal clamping for the rotor body with a steel connection being maintained through the rotor.
