Patent number: 11977659Abstract: An IoT/M2M service layer may be provided with the capability to protect user privacy. This functionality may allow the IoT/M2M service layer to anonymize user data, particularly when user data is shared with third party consumers. A privacy policy service may enable the IoT service layer system to generate anonymization (e.g., privacy) policies based on inputs such as legal obligations, subscriber privacy preferences, and an authorization level of the data consumer. Data anonymization policies may be output from the privacy policy service and may be sent to a data anonymization service, where raw data may be anonymized based on the one or more data anonymization policies. The output from the data anonymization service function may be a privatized (e.g., anonymized) version of data that may prevent the data consumer from discovering one or more identifying characteristics of a user.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2019Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: Convida Wireless, LLCInventors: Jiwan L Ninglekhu, Michael F. Patent number: 11968100Abstract: The present application describes a method and apparatus for managing a service in a service layer. In particular, a method describes a computer readable storage medium including instructions for managing a service in a service layer where the instructions are executed by a processor. The executed instructions cause the processor to receive a request to manage, via a service enabler function of the service layer, a change of state of the service including adding, removing, activating, or deactivating the service. The request may include a service description. The executed instructions also cause the processor to evaluate, via the service enabler function, the service description comprising identifiers of one or more services to manage. The executed instructions further cause the processor to identify one or more service capabilities in the service layer to assist in managing the one or more services identified in the service description.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2022Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: Convida Wireless, LLCInventors: Hongkun Li, Guang Lu, Lijun Dong, Dale N. Publication number: 20240121227Abstract: Existing approaches to security within network, for instance oneM2M networks, are limited. For example, content might only be protected while the content is in transit between entities that trust each other. Here, the integrity and the confidentiality of content in an M2M network are protected. Such content may be “at rest,” such that the content is stored at a hosting node. Only authorized entities may store and retrieve the data that is stored at the hosting node, and the data may be protected from a confidentiality perspective and an integrity perspective.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2023Publication date: April 11, 2024Inventors: Vinod Kumar CHOYI, Yogendra C. Patent number: 11882195Abstract: An M2M Service Layer is expanded to access the services of third parties and exchange data with these third parties. The M2M Service Layer is then able to act as a proxy between M2M Devices and the third party services. The M2M Service Layer is able to present a single/consistent interface, or API, to the M2M Device and hide the details of the third party service provider from the M2M Device.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2023Date of Patent: January 23, 2024Assignee: Convida Wireless, LLCInventors: William Robert Flynn, IV, Dale N. Publication number: 20230403334Abstract: A batch of CRUD operations can be coupled with the resource discovery operation and directly conducted on the matched resources, without initiating new CRUD requests. New functionality at the Originator and Receiver can differentiate the resources for which criteria matching is applied from the resources included in the discovery/filtering results. Enhanced functionality at the Originator and Receiver can combine discovery with RESTful operations targeting a resource set different than but related the discovered resources. Other enhancements may be used to request discovery of resources in a specified relationship to those matching a filter, or to request group formation based on the result.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2023Publication date: December 14, 2023Inventors: Catalina Mihaela MLADIN, Qing LI, Rocco DI GIROLAMO, Chonggang WANG, William Robert FLYNN, IV, Hongkun LI, Xu LI

Patent number: 11831736Abstract: A caching entity may store a cached copy of a service layer resource. An original hosting entity may maintain a registry of the corresponding cached resources. Optionally, the original hosting entity may set cache parameters to govern the lifetime of the cache on a caching entity. The caching entity may keep storing the cached copy of the resource and the original hosting entity may obtain statistics about the cached resource. By knowing the statistics, e.g. how many times a resource is retrieved on each caching entity, the original hosting entity may better manage the resource.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2022Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: Convida Wireless, LLCInventors: Zhuo Chen, Dale N. Publication number: 20230370843Abstract: An Authorization Verification Service (AVS) is disclosed that may be provided by an IoT/M2M service layer to registrants of the service layer for Dynamic Context Aware Authorization. The AVS may allow the IoT/M2M service layer entities to define dynamic limits for authorizing access to services or data. The limits may be set, for example, in terms of the number of allowed accesses. When an IoT/M2M registrant makes a request for data or services for which it has dynamic context aware authorization, the AVS may maintain records of the remaining accesses available.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2023Publication date: November 16, 2023Inventors: William Robert Flynn, IV, Dale N. Publication number: 20230353604Abstract: IoT service layer capabilities may be employed to automate and simplify the service enrollment process for IoT service subscribers/enrollees. These capabilities enable virtualization of a service subscriber and the physical IoT devices, applications, data and authorized users of the subscriber into a software profile that is representative of the subscriber. Once virtualized, a service subscriber may then delegate the complexities and burden of service enrollment to an automated IoT service enrollment software function.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 5, 2023Publication date: November 2, 2023Inventors: Dale N. Patent number: 11792290Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described herein for an automated product management (APM) service. An apparatus may receive from a second apparatus, at least one first request to enroll a third apparatus with a service layer associated with the second apparatus. The apparatus may send a second request to verify authenticity of the third apparatus and to generate a customized firmware or software for the third apparatus. The apparatus may send a third request to configure the third apparatus based on consent of a user of the third apparatus. The apparatus may send a response indicating whether the third apparatus has been enrolled with the service layer. The apparatus may receive a fourth request to diagnose or troubleshoot the third apparatus and a fifth request comprising information and the consent and requesting the fourth apparatus to perform at least one operation on the third apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2019Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Assignee: Convida Wireless, LLCInventors: Zhuo Chen, Dale N.
