  • Patent number: 3988430
Abstract: The preparation of antigens and their selective antibodies for antipyrine therefrom as well as an immunoassay for antipyrine using said antibodies is described. Such radioimmunoassay can be utilized to determine an individual's antipyrine half-life which has been correlated with the genetically controlled level of benzo[a]pyrene hydroxylase induction. The latter measurement has been associated with risk to bronchogenic carcinoma. Thus determination of the antipyrine half-life by means of the instant radioimmunoassay can be used as a screening test for identifying individuals at special risk to lung cancer.
