  • Patent number: 8376152
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention provides a free-standing handgun stack for storing multiple handguns in a single column vertical stacking arrangement. In another embodiment the invention provides a handgun stack for storing multiple handguns in a single column vertical stacking arrangement wherein the handgun stack is retrofitable or inserted for permanent or removable attachment to the inside of a gun safe. In one aspect of this embodiment, the gun stack is configured to a height and width that takes up about the same amount of space as a long gun if such long gun were disposed or secured in a vertical position in the same space within the gun safe.

  • Patent number: 6848048
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing verifiable digital signatures. In one embodiment, a method includes converting, on a computer system, digital data representative of a document into a predetermined format, and applying the predetermined format and a viewer program to a hash function to mathematically operate on the predetermined format and the viewer program and provide a message digest. The viewer program is used for viewing the predetermined format that is a representation of the document. The method further includes encrypting the message digest using a private key to provide a digital signature. In one embodiment, the predetermined format is a bitmap representation of the document. Moreover, in one embodiment, the method further includes incorporating a file in the digital signature, where the file includes one or more parameters specifying an environment of the computer system at the time of creation of the digital signature.

  • Publication number: 20040181757
Abstract: A method for evaluating a text content analysis engine includes integrating the software content analysis or evaluation engine with a ground truth module, an accuracy evaluator, and a controller. Under control of the controller of the integrated software, test documents are associated with ground truth, and the test documents are applied to the content analysis engine. The results of the content analysis are compared with the ground truth under control of the controller to produce the desired evaluation.

  • Publication number: 20020116610
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a customizable digital certificate. In one embodiment, a method includes providing a digital certificate that includes a certificate public key, one or more public keys corresponding to one or more respective items of information, and at least one encrypted item of information each encrypted with a private key corresponding to a respective one of the one or more public keys. In another embodiment, the method includes providing digital data representing a certificate having a certificate public key and one or more encrypted items of information each encrypted with the certificate public key. The method further includes decrypting at least one encrypted item of information with a certificate private key corresponding to the certificate public key to provide at least one item of information, and including the at least one item of information in the certificate. The certificate or components thereof may be compiled by a certification authority and transmitted to a subscriber.

  • Patent number: 5085846
Abstract: Phosphorous acid is made by a continuous recycling process from a mixture of phosphorous and hydrochloric acids, comprising:(i) continuously recycling the mixture in a loop apparatus;(ii) adding water to and passing phosphorus trichloride into said recycling mixture so as to generate a condition of turbulent flow at the point of contact of the phosphorus trichloride and the recycling mixture, whereby a reaction product, comprising an aqueous solution of phosphorous and hydrochloric acids as a continuous liquid phase and gaseous hydrogen chloride as gas bubbles of disperse phase, is produced;(iii) separating said gaseous hydrogen chloride;(iv) cooling said reaction product; and(v) recycling at least a portion of said reaction product and repeating steps (ii), (iii) and (iv) thereon to produce a more highly concentrated solution of phosphorus acid.

  • Patent number: 5075088
Abstract: Amorphous red phosphorus useful for matches, or as flame retardant is made by forming a slurry of 10-45% red phosphorus in molten white phosphorus, reducing the content of yellow phosphorus to less than 20% of the red phosphorus by separation at less than 280.degree. C., and then heating the product at above 295.degree. C. to convert, and preferably also evaporate, the white phosphorus.
