  • Publication number: 20190231425
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems and methods are provided for treating pulmonary tissues via delivery of energy, generally characterized by high voltage pulses, to target tissue using a pulmonary tissue modification system (e.g., an energy delivery catheter system). Example pulmonary tissues include, without limitation, the epithelium (the goblet cells, ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelial cells, and basal cells), lamina propria, submucosa, submucosal glands, basement membrane, smooth muscle, cartilage, nerves, pathogens resident near or within the tissue, or a combination of any of these. The system may be used to treat a variety of pulmonary diseases or disorders such as or associated with COPD (e.g., chronic bronchitis, emphysema), asthma, interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD), acute bronchitis and/or other pulmonary diseases or disorders.

  • Publication number: 20180312183
Abstract: A sheet transport device and method of formation are disclosed. The device may be used to carry and fully support a load, such as one or more sheets of drywall, plywood, or similar materials. The load is supported by a sheet channel coupled to a wheeled axle. One or more braces may be coupled to the sheet channel to form a substantially flat frame, which may or may not also include a handle. The combined weight of the load and the sheet transport device acting on a point of contact between the wheel and a support surface is opposed by an upward force on the wheel creates a torque, causing the handle and/or the frame to rotate against the load, stabilizing the load. A user can easily push and steer the device by grasping and stabilizing the load with one hand.

  • Publication number: 20180008305
Abstract: A device (100) for medical procedure localization and/or insertion that can be dimensionally adjusted for different patient sizes and properly aligned and stabilized using anatomical landmarks. The device (100) for medical procedure localization and/or insertion provides an adjustable template that indexes the site of interest at the intersection of a first axis or plane and a second axis or plane. An embodiment is disclosed in which a first axis is the axillary line through the patient's axilla (armpit) and iliac crest (pelvis), and a second axis is the patient's ideal horizontal nipple line. The intersection of the first and second axes is the 4th or 5th intercostal space, into which a needle and/or chest tube may be placed for decompression.

  • Publication number: 20170128039
Abstract: An endobronchial probe includes a deflector having a bore extending therethrough at an angle to its long axis for passage of a tool. The probe includes a location sensor and an ultra-sound imager. A push-pull anchoring system comprises a plurality of guides and wires that can extend beyond the guides and retract within the guides. When extended the wires diverge from the long axis sufficiently to engage a bronchus. The probe includes a balloon disposed on the distal segment contralateral to bore that when inflated urges the mouth of the bore into contact with the bronchial wall.

  • Publication number: 20160220772
Abstract: A device to assist performing medical procedures that references anatomical landmarks through adjustable components to identify and stabilize a procedure site and provide guidance in performing the procedure. In one embodiment, an airway creation assist device (ACAD) can be dimensionally adjusted for different patient sizes and properly aligned using anatomical landmarks. The ACAD provides an adjustable template that enables accurate identification of the airway creation site, including but not limited to the cricothyroid membrane. The ACAD uses an insertion guide to guide the obturator and airway tube safely and consistently into the trachea, with a mechanical stop to prevent damaging the posterior trachea wall. The ACAD improves efficacy of the procedure, and makes perforating an incorrect airway creation procedure difficult. In another embodiment, a chest decompression assist device (DAD) Is disclosed for decompression treatment of air and/or fluid in the chest.

  • Patent number: 7177447
Abstract: A multi-stage infrared (IR) image-based tracking system is provided that accurately identifies and tracks targets across a variety of different situations and environmental conditions. The system includes primary and secondary trackers. The secondary tracker supports the primary tracker by identifying and tracking targets when the primary tracker loses or fails to identify one or more targets, and helps the primary tracker reacquire valid targets. In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the primary tracker is a correlation-based tracker, and the secondary tracker is a feature-based tracker. A prescreener is also included, which operates concurrently with the correlation-based and feature-based trackers to generate a list of possible targets. The list can be used to provide a confidence level for the probable targets identified by each of the primary and secondary trackers.

  • Publication number: 20060232497
Abstract: Methods and systems for processing images corresponding to views external to a vehicle are disclosed. A system in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes first and second signal receiving portions configured to receive a signal corresponding to an image of a view external to the vehicle and a speed of the vehicle, respectively. A signal processing portion can direct to a first display portion a first signal corresponding to the image and to a second display portion a second signal corresponding to the image, with the first and second display portions positioned at different locations of the vehicle. The second signal can be delayed by a time that corresponds at least approximately inversely to the speed of the vehicle. Accordingly, a viewer seeing both display portions can receive a visual indication that the vehicle is moving.
